WHEN I FELT A SLIGHT SLIP IN DIFFERENTIAL WHILE DRIVING, I NEW IT WAS BAD . ON MY NEW REBUILD TRANSMISSION, I MADE SURE TO CHANGE THE LIQUID IN THE DIFFERENTIAL TO FULL SYNTHETIC LUCAS AND ADD A LITTLE LUCAS ON MY TRANS TOO.

This is the SECOND transmission failure with my Suburban. The first occurred at 56,000 and was covered under the extended warranty we purchased. The second failure occurred last night, and our extended warranty expired last month. There are no words to describe my disappointment in the quality (or lack of) in my American-designed car. We also own 2 Honda Accords - with no problems. Once this nightmare is over, the Suburban will be replaced by Honda or Toyota. I would gladly support American-designed vehicles, if the manufacturers stood behind what they sell.

Gettin on the gas to merge into traffic when boom - and I immediately knew what it was. So much for getting the kids to daycare. Sure, it worked in reverse . . . All I can say is thank God we purchased the extended warranty. The guys at ROGER DEAN CHEVROLET IN WEST PALM BEACH rock! Chevy, I've heard this is a recurring problem . . .

I had just pulled onto the highway, when my kids & I felt a sort of "bam" like I had hit something, only I hadn't and the truck almost came to a stop, once it finally did begin to shift into gear it was VERY slow. Thankfully, we made the 10 min drive home but only to realize that my transmission was making an awful whining sound & would not work in reverse at all! We take very good care of this SUV, oil changes always on time, along with all other regular maintanence. I grew up on Chevy's but I have to say, we are more than disappointed in this one! It also has electrical problems, but I will list other complaints later. GM needs to do some serious improvements on the longevity of the vehicles.

It surprises us that a truck with 85k would have such a serious failure. We have had all the recommended services on it. We don't have much faith in Chevy. This is only the first half of the expensive problems we have had. We will be buying Toyota after this.

I have a 2001 1500 Chevy Suburban that I purchased brand new. It was 109,000 miles on it. My transmission went out with no warning at 50,000 miles. We fought with dealership and manufacturer and had them replace it with a new one. Well guess what? I have appr. 59,000 on this transmission and it just went out on us on our thanksgiving trip. We were 4 hrs. from home when it started going out. When we were 3 hrs. from home we lost 3rd gear and drove in 2nd at 40 miles per hr. stopping several times along the way to let it cool down. We made it 2 hrs from home and made the decision to park it somewhere it will be safe to leave it overnight. Thank God our son was following us in his vehicle to give us a ride home. The following day we had to return to tow it home.
I am beyond livid. This vehicle is only driven in town and the occasional vacation or road trip. It has a tow pkg but hasn't been used to pull things. It has always been meticulously maintained by my husband that is a mechanic. This vehicle has never been misused or abused. So what is the problem with Chevrolet Suburban's? We have had absolutely no other issues with it and have loved this vehicle. I have researched and noticed I am not the only one with this issue.. What is the problem? How does Chevrolet plan on handling this issue? Three transmissions in one vehicle with that low of mileage is ridiculous. Chevrolet you are producing faulty products. There is no excuse for 2 transmissions going on a 3rd in a vehicle with that low of mileage... Third transmission, REALLY? I have always loved and promoted Chevrolet, but not any more. The taxpayers bailed Chevrolet out of bankruptcy and you still screw over the consumer. If anyone else has had any issues like this please let me know. I am furious that I have to have a 3rd, yes 3rd transmission in a vehicle with under 110,000 miles on it....
