My Suburban is less than 5 years old and has now had 3 batteries. Although we bought the extended warranty it was not covered the second time replacing the battery. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and/or it is related to some engine function draining the battery. Batteries are supposed to last for at least 6 years, correct????

I wanted to add also, that I recently (a few days ago - Dec'07) had the radio security lock come on (which would only happen with a loss of power) and I never had or disconnected the batter. This means that the same problem that was suppose to have been resolved with the circut board replacement and several batteries never went away. I
Here is my original complaint which include several.
I've experienced the same problem as Maria T.
First I have the 2500 V8 8.1, and experienced several early electrical problems which I had initially attributed to the kids leaving the lights on (since a jump start would recharge the battery just fine). The one battery went bad, replaced undert warranty. Then a second, I paid for, then a third which I was told there was a bad module ($300) and the interior blower was going hence draining the battery. Note the I frequently have to reset my radio (password) because there was a break in power.
Thinking the problem was not resolved, I recently had the car stall on me, I had the kids with me and was about 45 miles from home. I tried many times to start it up and it would just crank. I finally got out and pop the hood, not really know where to start, looked around and thought I'd try it again. It started, luck for me. Later that evening while driving home form that location on the freeway (going the "speed limit"), I suddenly experience power loss. I looked down only to find the engine rpm was zero. I was going up hill so the car was slowing down quickly. I made it to the right. I cranked it and it started.
I've since been afraid to take the kids in it and wanted to know if anyone had the same problem and manage to resolve it. I read the they had problems with the fuel pump over heating but was told it was only related to the 1500.
On my latest vist to the dealership, I had to make three trips back over a two week period to finally say the work was "done". The person that picked me up said it was pretty common, the mechanics can not seem to get the problems right the first time.
The problem is the experience at the dealership. No one knows how to trouble shoot problems anymore and they depend on the onboard computer to resolve any issues. Regardless of the car, I use to take my cars to the local shop and whatever the problem he'd always resolve it with the first go around (regardless of the problem). I may just need to by pass the dealership which tend to find problems other than the one you came in with and charges a premium for their "great service".
