The first issue the dealer could not correct was the SES light that stays on. After nearly blowing my own gasket with the service manager about the stupid light I gave up on it. The steering column knocks, pings, clunks etc, not just the sound but you can feel it. While under extended warranty the dealer said it was a service bulletin out on it, just needed the steering column greased. Four hours later, I thought the problem was solved.

Three week later it's back to square one. Same sound, same problem. Back to the dealer for another greasing. Once again it was better, but some how I knew I would be back.

Roughly 3 weeks later it starts again, I listen to my wife's complaints for months and it only got worse (the steering column, not my wife) In to the dealer for what the service guy says the new service bulletin suggest a new steering column. The next day it's finally ready, I'm thinking this is the last time I want to come back here.

After several months the noise is back and all that came with it the first time. Now to keep from getting my blood pressure up I ignore the problem until my warranty runs out oops. Like it mattered anyway. Now my wife is on me again and I'm not going to here the end of it until I fix it. And she's right it's only getting worse( the truck). You know what the dealer says, now I'm going to pay for them to even look at it. I told them I'm not paying them to tell me what I know is wrong. They want even tell me what they'll charge to grease or replace the column without me first paying them to look at it. I called the 1800 customer service for GMAC and got the same run around. This is the reason people won't buy a Ford, This problem exists with apparently every GMAC 2002 pickup, etc. And this is the reason I will never buy another Chevy. I think I'll take off the Chevy emblems and replace them with Ford emblems. Heck, I might even just buy a ford next time. Oh yeah when I went through all this I lived in Jacksonville Florida, and had visited two different dealers for all of it. The last time I had taken it in the service guy came out and told me my SES light was on and I nearly stuck my fist in his mouth. I told him whatever you do DON'T MENTION the SES light to me. I don't even want to go there!

Just bough this , It was replaced 2 times with the warranty first time was at 32339 miles and then at 43734 miles, I am disappointed that they have not come up with a fix for this.

I have been complaining about this problem for 40,000 miles and was told it was nothing or just my 22 inch wheels. Finally I drove with a technician today and he diagnosed it immediately. He said it is a common problem and the old, ineffective fix was lubing the drive shaft, but now they replace the drive shaft under warranty up to 100,000 miles. The service writer said " It finally acted up for us" I told him it wasn't that it was acting up because it ALWAYS felt sloppy like it was banging around underneath my hands. Occasionally I would actually hear the whole thing rattle if I hit a bump just right.

I have had to have the steering lubed twice now. This third time the dealer told me they can no longer lube it and I have to replace the steering shaft to a new one they have since the one I have is known to have been a problem. Of course this is not covered under my extended warranty nor has it been a recall. If they knew it was a faulty design it should be covered under the extended warranty or recalled.

This will be the 3rd time i will have to bring the Surburban to the dealership. The service manager said all what they can do is just grease the shaft & we will see you in another 6 months. Never buying another GM product again

There is a terrible noise in the steering column when you turn that sounds like a knocking noices or rattle.

The dealership claims that it is a known issue and that I will have to come in approx every 6 months to get this fixed and it is not covered by the exteneded warranty because it is under the deductible of $100.

So far I have had to had the problem fixed twice and will continue to have it for as long as I own the car.

That's it folks I am done with Chevy/GMC. Looks like its back to the imports.
