2003 Chevy Suburban 1500 4WD 5.3L GM has a known issue with the heads on these vehicles with the 5.3L engines. The company (castech) who made the heads let them go with a defect that allows coolant to leak into the motor. GM has a tsb on it as well #06-06-01-019B it can cause possible overheating due to coolant loss, as it leaks into the engine it creates rough idle and a slight missfire which will damage the converter sometime in the future. They know about this defect and should be forced to replace these heads with different ones. The only way to correct this issue is to replace the heads with another company.

When starting the vehicle the oil is out of the valves causing it to sound like a diesel motor. Therefore needing to leave the vehicle running for at least 15 minutes before you should put it into gear.

Consumer owns a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. He took vehicle to dealer at least seven times since April. When the vehicle turns over it just does not start. He came back from myrtle beach, and while driving on the interstate at 80 mph when the vehicle shut down and stalled. He managed to coast off the interstate, it then started back up with one attempt. He traveled about 150 miles and the vehicle stalled again and it started back, this time it started and was running a little rough. The consumer took vehicle to the next exit and found a dealer who told him that he could make it back to Ohio if he did not drive it very fast. The dealer told him that it was the fuel filter that was not able to handle the pressure. He drove back at 55 mph, and the vehicle did not shut down. The next morning he took vehicle to dealer in farris Ohio where he bought the vehicle. The dealer changed the ignition switch, the fuel pump, and something he thinks is called a ubeck. He was frustrated that he seemed to spend too much time at the dealer instead at home.

Oil pump failure with only 5,000 miles on engine. GM wants to extend warranty and leave it at that. With no oil circulation internal engine damage possible and reliability/safety/trustworthiness of engine in question. Want GM to replace motor but they want me just accept extended warranty and go away. As a consumer I believe that I should not have to accept the risk of further engine failure and want a replacement based on substantial impairment and value impairment as well as substantial loss of use (been in repair 18 days since February).
