This started in Oct 2005 with low mileage. Car just quit. Coast to stop, crank it and it usually started on the second or third try. Took it to my dealer, found nothing. Did it again, so I thought bad gas. Put in some XTP, no problem for 3 years. Then in Oct 2008, returning home from a long trip, It did it again. High ambient temp, end of a long trip. Put in some XTP. No problem for rest of trip and until July 2009. Returning from long trip, same problem, but worse. Happens more frequently. Limped home, taking it to my mechanic tomorrow. There is one other complaint out there, exactly the same problem. Certainly seems fuel related. I'll report any solution.
Update from Jul 29, 2009: Changed the fuel filter, cleaned the ground on the frame below the driver's door. Car would not start. Checked fuel pressure, less than 5 pounds. Changed fuel pump module. Runs good now. We'll see.

I will never own another GM product again..................... This suburban has been nothing but trouble, when the engine would warm up it would not stay running. We brought it to the dealership and they could not figure out the problem. I have a friend that had the same problem and he told me to change the crankshaft positioning sensor,, and that fixed the problem... Now the instrument cluster is going out. What next

engine failed, collapsed lifter scored the crankshaft. I maintain my vehicles well and this was a royal screwing by GM and has soured me on their vehicles. Used to buy a new Suburban every three years since 1983. Definite fact I will not own another!!!

Oil Consumption out of hand... The best answer I've herd was from a Ford salesman. He mentioned that the motor runs in V4 mode and has no compression in the other 4. causing the engine to "wet stack" or have oil blow-by. The State troopers in NC have Tahoe's with the same engine. They sit in the grass waiting for a speeder and take off... V4-V8 mode These engines have a pre-mature wear out! I used LUCAS OIL STABILIZER to coat the cylinder walls. Ask for one quart at oil change. This cut my oil consumption from 3qt in between oil changes to one. As of 8-20-10 we've traded!!!! Nissian Maxima 2010!!! good luck with Obama Motors!
