This is a recurring problem that is due to a VERY BAD DESIGN. The retaining nut is supposed to provide enough hold down force so that the wiper arm can be rotated on the nub. The nub on some, most, vehicles that I have had, have splines the mate with the wiper arm splines and all the corresponding nut needs to do is to keep it in the splines. Most of the driving force generated by the wiper motor is translated to the gooves of the splines. Not this design it expects the nut to keep the force on the arm. I do not think that the Chevey Designers even have a clue how or where the force is generated!!!!!! I have had several wiper arms come loose and entangled themselves. I have tried thread locker to keep the nut on tight at the point of maximum hold down. But the force is 90 degrees to the hold down of the nut!
