Suburban V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

It's been 20 years since I had a body begin to rust out and then it was in Boston with all the road salt. This is Virginia and there is no excuse for this type of problem on a $40,000 auto.

Suburban LT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

I wanted to buy American. So we purchased a 2005 Chevy Suburban from a Chevy dealer. It had 29k miles on it and was in excellent condition. Just lately, I noticed rust on the inside bottom of the driver's side door, passenger side door, outside passenger window frame, under hood, on the liftgate window frame, and some other areas. I just took the vehicle in to my dealer to take photos to see if Chevy (GM) will cover this. I do not expect a 2 year old vehicle costing over 42k new to have rust in this short of time. We have it detailed twice a year, and keep it very clean. The dealer said it shouldn't rust like it is, but that they may not cover it unless it is rusted through! I said, "It will be too late if that happens". We will see what happens. i am very disappointed in the quality of the body and paint, especially when my 1996 Nissan does not have body rust at all.
