Speedometer stops working intermittently. This is a safety hazard as the operator cannot tell the speed that the vehicle is operating. It seems to occur randomly.

2005 Chevrolet Suburban. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle odometer problems. The consumer began having problems with the speedometer approximately 2 years ago. Intermittently, the needle on the odometer would climb above the actual speed he was traveling, then move up and down tens of miles above the actual speed, at times, it would rise to 120 and remain there. When he turned the vehicle off and on again, it worked fine, until the next time.

The driver was sitting at the stop light for approximately one minute. Both the driver and passenger heard a revving noise. The driver's right foot remained on the brake. She never put her foot on the gas pedal, yet the vehicle accelerated forward into the intersection. The Suburban was struck on the driver's side by a truck, spun and was hit again on the front of the vehicle. The driver sitting at the light behind our Suburban agreed that our car was at a complete stop when it suddenly went into the intersection. The Suburban was deemed totaled by our insurance company.

I went to Washington auto show today 2/4/2012 and one of your rep gave me a card about your service. I came home and check out your website and found out you have been receiving complaints about instrument panel of Chevy Suburban. I bought a 2005 Chevy Suburban in March 2005 from win kelly chevorlet in clarksville, md. About middle of last year I noticed that my speedometer is always stuck, running high than the speed I am driving and just exactly as being described by other owners of these vehicles. What is the department doing to help with this manufacturer's defect and have it corrected rather than we consumers being saddled with unexpected repair cost?

2005 Chevy surburban speedometer (55,549 miles) is not working properly. Speed varies when car is in use making it unsafe to drive. I don't know what the actual speed is at times/and sometimes the speed drops to zero and stays in this setting.

I purchased my vehicle last year and I am having problems with my speedometer and my RPM gage. I was driving and my speedometer just kept moving up and finally it just got stuck at 120. It doesn't move from there and it is a very big safety issue. My wife uses the vehicle mostly and is on the freeway quite a bit and its a concern because you have no idea what your speed. We are basically guessing and that isn't safe for me or my kids. We have contact our dealer were we purchased it and I would have to pay $100 for the deductible. I have looked in several different websites (edmunds.com) regarding this issue an was very surprised to see that there are many people with the same problem and frustrated that Chevy won't fix the problem. There is an obvious malfunction and it should be replaced at there cost not the consumers. My vehicle has only 57000 miles and this should not be occurring. I also have a 1994 Chevy truck and it has never experienced problem like this. I really hope someone can help with this problem.

While driving on interstate when speedometer started reading 80 then 90 then 100, then eventually 120 mph. Pulled over, speedometer only returned to 45. Had to start and stop engine 7 times to get to reset. Happens approximately every 2 weeks. Can't count on its accuracy for my safety in driving.

On two occasions my 2005 Suburban has stayed on cruise control even after turning off cruise control. My vehicle kept a constant speed at which it was set when I had the cruise control on. This has occurred on flat highways. I was not descending.
