The air bag light came on in January of 2017. Was told that only dealer could check or repair. Took it in and had repaired. $280 to do diagnostic to determine what was wrong and $540 to repair. It was left air bag sensor. I had it fixed, had no choice. Took them approx. 30 minutes to repair. In October of 2017 the light came on again. This time I did a little more research and found out that some garages can repair. I thought a private garage would be less. I found out the part is about $70 for new sensor, Took it in again to private garage instead of dealer. Charged $89 for diagnostic. Said it was the right air bag sensor this time. Said it would be $501 to replace!

Sorry folks, but I am 63 years old. Have been driving a Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban for last 20 years or more.

Been driving for approx. 45 years. I have never had an air bag light come on in any vehicle I have ever owned.

Can it really happen twice in 9 months? Maybe so, but it sounds like a scam to me. If it is really that common then it should be a recall for Chevrolet. I personally can't afford $1000 repair just for air bag maintenance, not counting the regular repairs and service needed throughout the year.

Making me really think twice about continuing to drive a Chevrolet. By the way, I did not get it fixed. Still driving with light on. If you purchase a suburban, look out for the air bag light. Not an inexpensive repair.
