Just purchased this 2007 Suburban as a second owner and three weeks later noticed the dash had the infamous crack beside the airbag on the passenger side. I am in talks with GM to try to get it fixed but I afraid of what the answer is going to be. This is ridiculous there has to be some course of action against a company that puts out a defective dash and doesn't put out a recall to fix it. This is why know one is buying American, these companies just keep shooting themselves in the foot. I do want to know of any GM reps name that has offered to have the dash replaced free of charge or at a discounted rate. I have heard of it happening in several different sites however no one is giving the name or number of someone that others can hold accountable in case we get one of these reps on a bad day and they tell us to pound sand. That will give us others at least some other reps name that we can point out did do the right thing. Please respond if you have anything.

My dash first cracked at 40,000 miles I thought it was how the dash was installed around the airbag. I never did anything about it until I heard a loud "pop" and the dash cracked 10" on top of the gauge cluster. I took it to the dealer and the informed me of the airbag side as well. I spoke with Roger at GM and he explained that the vehicle was out of warranty and there was nothing he could do. This is my Third and last Suburban. I have had issues with burning oil, five times my door handles have ripped off because of cheap plastic, the plastic pieces that hold the backup sensors on keep breaking off. My 25 year old Toyota FJ does not have these problems.

Noticed a small crack on the passenger side dashboard near airbag. Crack has spread and now have a triangular hole in that spot. Another crack, much larger, appeared on the driver's side of the dashboard several months ago.
Went to dealership and was told that they had never heard of this problem before. Contacted Chevrolet corporate office and they were of no help either.

I am very upset that a Suburban which I purchased in May 2007 would have a problem such as this. It is cosmetic, but as I set in the drivers set it is all that I can see. I am going to contact GM and ask for help for the replacement of the dash. I would like any information on contacts that would help me address this matter.

While taking my son to school I noticed a shadow on the dash of the suburban. It turned out to be a 6 inch crack on the left side of the drivers side hump. When I got home i inspected the rest of the dash and noticed a crack on the dash at the upper left corner of the airbag cover. I haven't even paid this thing off and this is about the 5th defect i have encountered.
I just found this website today and found that all of my defects are common and obviously a DEFECT that GM should cover even out of warranty. I will definitely post up my other complaints. Hopefully the dealership will replace when i show them all the posts of the common defect.

I am very disappointed that this happened. I do not know of a fix. The dash rattles and looks like any day it will completely fall apart. I very much enjoy this vehicle and maintain it whenever it needs repairs. All I want is someone to help with this repair.
