Stability traction control light keeps coming on while in motion. With major oil consumption problems. Just in regular driving I've had transmission, and rear differential work done fixed the problem for a few months now back again with flashing check engine light. Saying cylinder 6 misfiring. I've already sunk in over 4K in this after buying it last year in Dec.of 2017. After reading comments this really should be a recall. With so many of the same concerns and complaints that have been listed.

While driving on the highway I started hearing ticking noise from engine compartment and the stablizing light and check engine light started flashing. I shut off the Suburban and went to look under the hood. Started it back up and went back to listen again, still the same ticking. Chevy will not stand behind there bad afm which is causing this issue.

Takata recall: It's been over 9 months since I received a recall notice regarding my Suburban. I have made several calls and still no fix for the problem. I have also had problems with the emission sensor caused by gas tank cap. This appears to be a problem for all Suburban. I also experienced a loss in power with this vehicle while on the highway. The stabilitrqck light came on and I was able to safely exit the highway. Could have been a severe accident if inwas not near an exit.

Wire harness underneath vehicle rubbing on drive shaft causing electrical issues. Battery drain, compressor for air ride burning out, stability control warning light coming on and various other electrical issues.
- Springfield, NJ, USA
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the reduced power engine and stability traction warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the contact mentioned that while at a traffic light with the brakes engaged, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician cleaned the throttle box but the problem recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 157,000.

While driving under normal conditions, stabilitrak light illuminated and engine began idling rough. Codes read cylinder #6 misfire. Diagnosis revealed failed piston. Engine rebuild required at a cost of $6700. Stabilitrak light continues to go on and off.

Ignition does not engage engine when key is turned. Takes several attempts of turning key on, completely off, then on again until engine will engage and start. Stabilitrak light illuminates and goes off every 20-40 miles. Rough shift between first and second gear.

2007 Chevy Suburban with 5.3 afm engine. Driving down freeway and traction control, stabilink and engine light come on. Misfiring real bad. After getting it to shop they stated no compression in 2 cylinders. When told service manager he stated what problem was right away. Then confirmed it. Knew right away because it is common problem. Stated problem dropped lifters which damaged camshaft stemming from afm system. Would have to pay to tear down engine to be exact but will need a motor either way. This has been a common problem with the oil consumption problem with this motor. I had been experiencing oil consumption for a long time. I would burn a quart of oil driving 1000 miles on long trips. Every week I'm a 1/4-1/2 quart low. Chevy says this is normal and denies there is a problem but this is far from normal. This also stems from afm system. An 07 Chevy Suburban that has been maintained should last more than 170,000 miles and Chevy should stand by their product of a known issue. There have been fixes by Chevy but none seem to work. I never formally filed a complaint with Chevy or did oil consumption test( but they wouldn't have it if there wasn't a problem. I have just followed issue online waiting for a fix. But, motor died first. Also vehicle has a cracked dash which has been a common problem with this vehicle which Chevy has since reinforced the places it cracks indicating there was a flaw in design but Chevy refuses to fix.

While driving the car logs go up and down, the stability control and park assist lights flash as well as the in dash audio system. The car looses power. Scared of what will happen on the highway.

When test driving the Suburban, the service stabilitrac and service traction control lights came on. We looked in the owner's manual and it said to turn the vehicle off for fifteen seconds and restart. If the lights did not reappear there was not a problem so we did not say anything to the dealership. A few days after taking delivery of the vehicle the lights began to come on repeatedly. The dealership replaced a sensor that had to do with the steering. Everything appeared to be normal for about a month, but then real problems began to happen. The first adverse occurrence happened when I was driving at a steady speed, going straight, at approximately 25 mph. The left front brake engaged harshly two times in rapid succession, then the service stabilitrac and service traction control lights came on. I did not touch the brake and was not accelerating. I took it to a Chevrolet dealership the following week and they had it for three days trying to isolate the problem. They even sent it home with a shop foreman overnight. However, they were not able to find any problem with either of the systems. As I was leaving their lot both lights came on again, but without the harsh braking. Two days later (today) my family and I were beginning to enter an entrance ramp to the highway (again at about 25-30 mph) and the left front brake engaged three times in rapid succession hard enough to make the tire squeal each time. A car was directly behind me and skidded to keep from running into the rear end of the Suburban. My wife and I and four children were in the vehicle. Now I am afraid to even drive it. If this happened at highway speeds the vehicle would probably overturn. I will be calling the Chevrolet dealership when they open in the morning.

Our 2007 Suburban lurched forward, and doors locked when my wife started it today. She said it also 'felt like it wouldn't go' she also stated that 'the steering locked up' and that she was scared to take it on the road from the store she was at. In the last few months we noticed 1) using excessive oil between changes 2) radio, and dash lights quitting 3) ac working intermittently. In the last 3 weeks we've had 1) the stabilitrac/tcs/check engine light come ON2) hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gear 3) abnormal idling 4) car lurching when started and doors locking on their own when this happened 4) vehicle steering locking up 5) and sluggish acceleration. 8/29/11--vehicle is at dealer for the 2nd time for the check engine/tcs/stabilitrac light....many more have had this problem on edmunds, however dealer wasn't interested in the details unless there was a fix, however I had not completed reading all of the complaints yet...

January 2011: I'm having the exact same problems with my 2007 Suburban as the complaint filed on June 13, 2010. This is a problem that I had when the vehicle was new, as well. The engine seemed to be sputtering while idling today and by the end of the day it lost its stability control with warning signals illuminated on the dash. The transmission is bucking out of 1st gear and begins to grind slowly from a stop. I concur that this problem should be recalled, as it poses great danger on the road.

Engine started idling rough and the 'engine light' came on and stayed on.then the next day, went to start car and it was really idling rough, sputtering, then stablitrak light and 'traction control off' light and ABS lights all came on. The car felt like it was going to die until about 20 mph, then made a jerking motion and ran fine. This continued to happen until I took it to the shop. They kept it for a week, replaced the fuel pump, but this did not fix the problem. The car still runs rough and the lights still come on whenever I have to idle, intersections, etc... I have been reading and I am concerned that there is no fix for this problem. I believe it is a faulty engine/electrical issue and there needs to be a recall. This is completely dangerous, if my stabilitrak system goes off and I am on unstable ground, rain, snow, etc... it will cause my car to brake and I will loose control of my car. I am worried that it is going to die in an intersection, since it has a hard time coming out of an idle with any power.

While driving approx. 20 miles an hour there was a loud thud and the service engine light and the traction control light both came on at the same time. The engine began to miss on acceleration and shifting between 1st and 2nd gears was so rough it shook the truck. The truck is only 6 months old and has 9, 000 miles on it. The Suburban was driven to the dealership for repairs it took 3 days for them to diagnose computer relay was affecting the traction control system and #7 cylinder had seized. The entire cam shaft is going to be replaced. Est. Work will take 7-10 days.
