Suburban LTZ 5.3L

I purchased this Suburban as a "Certified GM" , this is supposed to mean it comes with a bumper to bumper 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty, don't let this fool you. The battery went dead after 4 months, at first the Chevy Dealership was very nice and replaced the battery, then after two months they called and said it was not covered under the "Certified GM Bumper to Bumper Warranty" and that I owed them $130.00 . So I called the Chevy corporate office and they could care a less about one person. So I called the service manager at the dealership and he told me if I didn't pay it, I shouldn't bring my truck in for service anymore! REALLY! Now I know why the US tax payer had to bail there A_ _ out!

Had problems with the battery going dead while sitting overnight etc. This is my third new suburban 97 and 02 were the other ones. This also happened with the 02. I was able to self fix the problem by installing an extra battery on the driver's side. (there is a battery plate already in place!) I simply hooked the new battery to the old battery in series? + to + and - to -. This cured to problem in both my 02 and 07 Suburbans. I THINK the issue has something to do with over charging? I was getting the odor of "cooked battery acid" and then a short time later the battery would die. Replacing the battery would only work for a while then start back with the odor and then bead battery.

Suburban LT 5.3L V8

2007 Chev Suburban is a wonderful family ride EXCEPT when you can't go anywhere. We purchased our vehicle in May 2007 and have had at least five episodes with the vehicle not starting. The most recent episode happened when our family was leaving for the airport ... car was loaded and we were ready ... but we weren't goining anywhere. We have learned to keep a portable battery charger in the garage for just such an emergency and when it really counts, we rely on our trusty old 1997 Chev pickup (for a jump if one of us is stranded or immediate transportation if the "sled" is holding us hostage in the garage). We have also had problems with the radio cutting out; the inside chrome on the door handles peeling (getting fixed as I type); the steering wheel peeling; and only one power oulet works. This vehicle is unlike any other Chevrolet we have owned and if this would have been our first experience there would never have been a second. Honestly, I expected long term reliability because that's what we've always had ... what a disappointment.

Our 2007 Chevy Suburban continues to have electrical problems where the battery is completely dead whenever the car radio is on and the engine is off in the car. The local dealership has replaced the battery at least 5 times in the two and a half years that I have owned it (purchased in August 07). The car has needed to be towed in or jumped over a dozen times. The dealership refuses to do anything about it except keep replacing the battery. GM has left us feeling awfully stranded throughout this ordeal. What a rip off!!

The problem with our 2007 suburban we keep having is we go to go start it and the radio and light turn on but the stupid thing won't start,I have been stranded twice and had to be jumped and once it didn't start in the garage. Fun times. this should not be happening if they can't fix this problem I am going to Lemon Law this stupid thing!!!!!! This problem first occurred in February of this year ,then again in July and then it happened again yesterday September 2009. Each time Dealership said it was the battery and replace the battery...are you kidding me,this never happened to our 2005 suburban and there is no way we have had 3 bad batteries in the last 7 months!!!!

Suburban LT 5.8L

  • Automatic transmission

Three times the truck would not start. Has left me stranded each time. The doors make clicking sounds, but no lights on in the truck, and no key in the ignition. The dealership changed the BCM, but it has happened again. I believe it is an electrical problem...as the radio goes off and on by itself and stability alarm goes off for no reason and also the seat belt warning for the passenger seat dings when no one or nothing is in the seat.

Suburban LT 5.3L

I have always had good luck with the Suburbans but this one has me stumped. The failure to start on the first try is annoying and generally it starts on the 2nd try sometime it takes 3 times. It naturally started this at the time it went out of warranty. This week I had it checked by a repair shop and they said it was the battery, so we replaced it. This is the 2nd time it's been replace in 2 years. Problem still exists. I was hoping someone else had found the solutions before I started spending money for naught.

I took my 2007 Suburban into the shop yesterday to get my starter looked at b/c of the past few months it takes several attempts to actually start. The mechanic said my starter is fine and that I should call Chevrolet dealer. He also said his head mechanic that owened a 2007 Chevrolet Truck that this happened to also and Chevrolet said there is not fix. It's a computer glitch and there is no fix.

My husband called Chevrolet dealer in town and they told him the same thing - there is not fix.

I showed myself up in person at Chevrolet dealership and complained that I am paying way too much money for a Suburban that sounds like it needs to go to the shop everytime I start it. They said, "sorry there is nothing we can do."

If I had known about this before hand when I was shopping for a car, I would not have bought it! They said it happens on all GM made vehicles year 2005 +.

I am not happy and I am now changing my shopping vendors away from GM and to Toyota, or Honda.

Sine we purchased our 2007 suburban (4th one) new in July, 2006, it occasionally will not start without being either boosted or charged in our garage. Problem never shows up on the diagnostic report from On Star or the dealer's diagnostic reads. Mystery that so far has left my wife and 2 young daughter stranded away from home only once so far...

Suburban LS K1500 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,500 miles

This car did't start the first day we bought it brand new we thought maybe it was the cold weather. It has been towed from my home 4 times in 1 year because it would not start. It would not do anything. GM offered me free oil changes for 1 year. I have talked to a lawyer now they want give me $2,000 dollars. I don't want the 2007 suburban. I don't trust it. I was told each time I got it back it was fixed. Would you trust it? Thank God I was always home when it would start.
