No problems until I had a complete failure of the driveline. Differential failed, spider gears completely wiped out, transfer case encoder motor failed. Transfer case oil was clean no metal at all removed, shifted it manually and seems to work fine, the motor was not working at all, replaced the encoder motor which was set in neutral, after some research I discovered directions in the owners manual to shift it out of neutral, the motor worked.
After installing the drive shafts I noticed I could turn the rear drive shaft while in park? Popped the cover and heard metal falling into the drain pan, the spider gears in the center unit were completely wiped out ! Installed a new locker unit, bearings, seals, oil etc. Thought I was ready to drive off the lift! Wrong!
Now I have no transmission forward or reverse gears, the transfer case is shifting through the various gears, no transfer of power to any of the wheels and no codes present ? Clutch failure, converter failure, sensor failure ? I have no clue yet since I have no codes. Can't afford 3K to take it for repairs and from what I have read even then other Suburban owners are having issues. Sounds like the 2007 Suburbans were a big rip off!
I have had many Chevy and GMC products over the years and perform complete restorations of body's and drive lines on Chevelles, Camaros, Nova's and Corvettes up to 1973 models. I am dumbfounded as to how the entire driveline of the Sububan had a catastrophic failure all in one instance ? I have already spent over $1,000.00 in repair parts and now I am looking at a transmission replacement the way it looks. The vehicle was in excellent condition when I purchased it used with 130K on it, I had no prior issues until now, what a disaster !
