So after a warranty engine replacement and a warranty transmission replacement, now the 4WD is out. It's the encoder motor, and the dealership REBUILDS it. They didn't even ask us if we wanted it REPLACED. Took two weeks to get all the parts to rebuild and raped me for the labor on a rebuild, when a replacement would have been the same price, plus it would have come with a factory warranty on the part. NO WARRANTY on a dealer rebuild. Have I mentioned how much I hate this car. I have never owned a chevy product before; this will be the last. Just waiting for the next thing to break down, and hoping we dont dump too much $$ in it while we are trying to pay down debt to get another damn vehicle.

Apparently GM only makes transmissions to last 50,000 miles. Because this is our second transmission replacement. Now gonna be out of our pocket after a warranty replacement 50,000 miles ago. I have NEVER had to replace a single transmission in ANY other vehicle I have owned. We have 1993 mercedes with 220,000 miles on it and NEVER replaced a transmission. We have a 1 ton duramax with 200,000 miles on it and NEVER replaced a transmission. Come on GM what the hell is up with your suburbans. Biggest LEMON I have had the mispleasure to purchase. Bad engine, bad transmission, bad 4WD. Bet all your parts are from china.

I bought my 2007 Suburban brand new, the dealer had to rebuild my motor at 30,000 miles and I had to purchase a new motor at 85,000 miles. Now the transmission went out and my extended warranty claims it's because I didn't replace the transmission filter. The dealer flushed out the transmission oil at 25,000 miles, I had it done at 86,000 at Jiffy Lube and then again at 87,000 shortly after the motor went out. The manual states to change the transmission filter at 50,000 miles under severe service, which states when the vehicle is driven in high traffic when the temperature reaches 90 degrees regularly. I live in Chicago and the temperature doesn't reach 90 degrees regularly. I want to know if anyone knows, when is the severe service recommended. I called the dealer and they said that they don't change the filter, only if the oil is very dirty.

I've called Chevrolet, asked different dealer and they all give me the run around. My extended warranty Endurance, is a big joke and they don't want to cover the repair. This vehicle cost me over $70,000, it's disappointing that I've had to spend so much money on repairs.

Second MAJOR problem in one month. First the engine now the transmission. Really had no signs of any transmission issues. We just had the motor rebuilt, then replaced a wheel bearing assembly. Roughly $4500 in total repairs. We think we are good for awhile then my daughter gets stranded on her way to school. Truck will not move when in drive or 3rd. Dealer tells me transmission is shot, needs to be rebuilt. Another $3k. Are you kidding me, over $7k of repairs in one month? I purchased this truck new and have always maintained it. 125k miles and this what I have, a piece of junk? I have a Benz with 140k (purchased new) and no problems. Junk, Junk, Junk. If GM doesnt own up to their garbage I for one will never own one again!

7/09/2010 Transmission would not shift through all speeds. I called the dealership and they arranged to pick it up at work. We had to find a rental car to drive in the meantime. The dealership reported that they replaced one of the clutches in the transmission to fix the problem. Transmission shifted through all speeds when we got it back but not smoothly or uniformly.

8/21/2010 Second failure of transmission, the vehicle would not go forward. I had it towed to the local dealership 90 miles from my house and had to find a rental car to drive while it was in the shop again. Transmission was removed and sent to a local transmission shop for rebuild. Dealership reported that all forward clutches had to be replaced and the transmission shop performed a complete rebuild of the transmission. Got the vehicle back and it ran and shifted fairly good. This vehicle has never towed anything in it's life. I purchased new. This is the second time transmission went out in less than 12 months.

7/25/2011 While traveling back from San Antonio, Texas the transmission stopped pulling in all forward gears and left us stranded on the side of the road again. This is the third transmission failure for this vehicle in a years time. Wrecker service called at 10:30 pm to pick up the vehicle off the side of the road and had to get a relative 100 miles away to come pick us up off the road. Again I had to obtain a rental car for transportation while the Suburban was in the shop.

I contacted GM Customer service the next day and requested a SERTA Certified transmission be installed in this vehicle because this was the third failure in a year and with only about 15,000 miles left on my 100,000 mile drive train warranty I had great concerns about the reliability of this vehicle in the remaining life of the vehicle. GM agreed to my request and installed a SERTA transmission in the vehicle. We drove about 250 miles in the rental car to pick the repaired Suburban up Saturday morning.

As of this writing 7/31/2011 the car is operating and shifting satisfactorily. I do have concerns over the elevated transmission temperature we are seeing. Before all the troubles started we usually say 187F and we are now seeing 205F under normal driving conditions.

I was driving along and boom! I thought i ran over something, didn't see anything and kept going. About a mile later the transmission hot/idle engine light came on. The clutch in the transmission had exploded in the transmission. This cost almost $4000! on a vehicle two years old. I bought it brand new and it's never pulled a single thing. This vehicle is a joke. I also have the same oil burning problem, a quart or two every 3,000 miles. Several of the trim pieces have broken inside. The drivers seat leather has come undone, the trim on the door broke, etc. Never again.
