This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
I have asked several glass places about fixing it and they said that they have had no success. It falls right back off after a short period of time. Their only solution is replacing the back window and defroster.

Update from Jul 13, 2011: the rear defroster coil fell off and dealer would not fix it,

I have had this rear window defroster coil fall off the window three separate times. I just took the suburban in this morning to have the FORTH rear window put in. Replacing the entire rear window is I am told the only way for them to fix this. The service manager actually accused me or (my family) of pulling it loose, this is absolutely NOT the case. It just falls off with out explanation. We rarely use the back window, we always use the door (hatch) when putting things in or taking things out of the cargo area. I had this same rear defrost set up on my Ford Expedition which I had for 8 years and NEVER had one problem with it. This tells me that there has to be some type of problem with these and it is not just my vehicle.
Update from Apr 27, 2009: Just wanted to give anybody reading this an update on my rear defroster coil problem. This has happen a total of 7 yes SEVEN times in the two years I have my suburban. One time they actually saudered they coil back on the window and the other six times they have replaced the entire window. The first time the service dept manager told me that one other suburban has been in for this same problem. The next time he told me I was the only one he knew of that this was happening to, which contridicted what he told me in the first place. This last time which was just a few weeks ago he told me that it happening to more suburbans but never more than once to each of them and they still can't figure out why it is happening to me so often and I told him the same thing have told him many times before "I don't know why either but, it really is a major pain in the A--" I have to take time off of work to take it down there in the morning and then time off from work to pick it up later that day. I am NOT happy with this situation at all. Anyone out there having this same problem more than once or twice or like in my situation 7-SEVEN times????
