We bought our vehicle used from a Chevy dealer in our local area. It was a great looking truck ran great on the test drive and overall ok when we bought it. And then I take it to my local mechanic for an oil change. Upon picking up my vehicle, my mechanic says you know you had almost no oil in your engine right. To my surprise, I did not know it was almost out of oil and no lights or warnings from the vehicle were coming on to tell me either. Then my mechanic told me about chevy's oil consumption problem. Since October I have put a quart to two quarts of oil in this truck every two weeks. When I took it to Chevy to complain, they said that one to two quarts were not a large concern. I about flipped out when they said this is normal. So while my truck is currently running, it is starting to have the oil consumption issues which I assume will begin to cost me more than my monthly car payment to get fixed. I hope these engines are recalled and Chevy has to replace them or fix the problem. And it would be nice to know when you're buying a vehicle from Chevy of the potential issues that are known about the engines. However they are just trying to make their next dollar and spend my next two dollars. So frustrating.

We purchased this car in January of this year. We were not told of the bulletin that had been issued regarding the excessive oil consumption in the Chevrolet suburbans. We are now fighting with the dealership and the extended warranty company to have it fixed. All the while adding oil to a engine that I am afraid is just going to give up on me one day soon. It is driving like it is stuck in the mud. This bulletin was posted in 2013. How were we not told about it????

My wife had been pestering me about wanting a new vehicle so we spend $40K on this 2011 Chevy Suburban...nice vehicle over all....however recently noticed that it's been using a lot of oil. Checked online and found that I'm not the only one who's been having this problem and that it is a known problem with Chevy. Called the dealer and they stated that I'm out of warranty as of March 2016, REALLY! He stated that if it was under warranty they would monitor the oil consumption and make all necessary repairs. He said replacing the valve cover which repositions the PVC valve which has been known to fix problem. This would cost about $500.00. Asked about the cost of the valve cover which includes gasket and bolts, $104.08. I could bitch and moan but no need....time to climb under the hood and fix this sh*t.

Oil blow by when drops to 4 cylinders. Took to dealership while under warranty to put in a bypass valve to "see" if will fix, didn't. So next step was to have bottom half of engine rebuilt, which I had to pay for out of pocket, which then in turn ended up blowing up my whole engine either because the lifters got to hot & warped or the fact that the dealership sanded the heads which could have caused metal shavings to disperse through the engine which was not authorized. We actually specifically said not to. Either way the issue began while vehicle was under warranty as had been dealing with dealer for 2 years when issue began to the date engine blew.
Had 1st dealer put back together to take to another dealership for 2nd opinion and they also said it's been a know issue with the Suburban from 2007-2011 but is not a recall as of yet - I want my money back, I should not have had to pay for the "see if this works part", the bottom half of engine to be rebuilt, & then a new engine when GM & dealerships know this has been an issue for 4 years!!!!
Totally not acceptable. I'm not even including all the time & gas taken as had to take vehicle to dealer to test oil levels every 1,000 miles for 2 years - again when a known issue. Have paperwork from dealers on hand.
