About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
After recently purchasing a used 2015 GM vehicle from a non-GM dealership, I made a service appointment with a local authorized GM service shop to have three outstanding safety recall issues addressed. My appointment was for 7:30 am on 8/25/2020 and I brought my vehicle to the shop in the morning of 8/25. After 4:30 pm I returned to retrieve my vehicle, and the service shop had not even brought it in to lol at the issues. No work had been performed, despite the service department having my vehicle in their possession not only during the timeframe specifically scheduled for them to perform this service, but the entire remainder of the work day. The safety recall issues remain unresolved.

Dealer told me that passenger side air bag is not working
- Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, USA
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving approximately 5 mph out of the dealer, the vehicle jolted and the stabilizer indicator illuminated. The steering lost power and caused the vehicle to steer left and right. The contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a large pole. The technician from the anderson Buick GMC dealer (1001 bowens mill rd, sw, douglas, ga 31533) ran to the scene and drove the vehicle to the shop. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was damaged, but was not totaled. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to repair the vehicle without a warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V651000 (air bags, seat belts). The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

A driver ran the red traffic light and hit my vehicle as I was making a left turn in the intersection. The impact was so intense that he managed to shift the entire front frame of my vehicle. My air bags did not deploy.

Trailer brake assist malfunction during trip while driving with trailer connected on highway no problem after ending trip and disconnecting trailer brake assist warning light appeared and 1st glance brakes seemed fine but final pedal pressure is very stiff almost can't stop SUV

Vehicle was stationary, driver placed ac on highest setting, but nothing blew out (mylink screen also displays no air). Navigation stops working in middle of route and changes destination to a different country (Mexico). Vehicle feels like it wants to die in stop/go traffic and while in stationary position. When making turns at any speed, driver will begin braking, and vehicle accelerates on its own causing many near miss accidents including almost falling off a bridge. Lastly, many 2015 Suburban have been recalled for their airbags, but mine has not. Concerned that ours may be impacted and do not wish to end up injured or a fatality. NHTSA has documented fatalities of airbag failures from vehicles not recalled that were 2015 Tahoe and Suburban. Vibrations are so loud they cause migraines and earaches in all occupants.

Takata recall- on May 27 2016 we were involved in an accident in our 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. 2 of the 4 passengers passed away. We were ran off the of road and hit twice by a truck pulling a trailer. All airbags except the front passenger and drivers front airbag deployed. This occurred while the vehicle was in motion. We crossed northbound lanes and came to a complete stop about 10 feet off of the roadway. A motorhome towing a Jeep locked their brakes going approx 65 mph when they saw us cross the road and lost control causing them to come off of the roadway. They hit us, causing us to spin around and then hit us again. The accident ended with us being slammed into a cement culvert. During this time the front airbags still did not deploy and also the steering wheel broke off. The front passenger passed away as well as his sister sitting behind him. Can someone look into this and see why the front airbags did not deploy and also why the steering broke? thank you.
