6L80 transmission failure at only 82k miles. This is a known Chevrolet fail point on all vehicles equipped with this transmission yet Chevrolet does nothing to recall or repair the issue. Customer absorbs full cost of repair ($6k) and chevrolet acts like they know nothing about it. This happens on the highway at speeds and vehicles suddenly have no drive putting occupants at risk of other traffic and trying to get off the roadway where there may be no safe zone to stop.

Transmission sudden failure. We were driving down the road when we suddenly lost all power to the wheels. No ability to accelerate or maintain vehicle speed, only coast with the remaining speed we had like it was in neutral. No warnings or trouble light, no noticeable symptoms ahead of time. I would press the gas pedal and the engine would Rev high like it was in neutral. I had just pulled out into the flow of traffic and the cars behind me soon had to all come to a stop because i lost accelaration and had nowhere to go with parked cars along the side of the road. Luckily we were not on a really busy road and could eventually get out of traffic. I can only imagine how bad it could have been if I was in the middle of highway traffic, or going up a snowy hill, or trying to cross a divided highway, etc. The car had to be towed to the nearest dealership and is awaiting repair. The dealer says the torque converter failed and subsequently damaged the transmission fluid pump and will require the entire transmission to be replaced and cost us over $6600. It should be available for inspection but I guess you would need to contact Blaise Alexander Chevrolet of phillipsburg pa. I don't know if anyone else has inspected it. I suspect this is a very well known issue/defect. Other mechanics I talked with instantly guessed the failure before the dealer could tell us. I have the 6 speed transmission and I see there is a class action lawsuit for the similar 8 speed failures.

While driving at 70 mph transmission went out. Shifted from N back to D but no response. Coasted to shoulder of interstate and stop. Shut off vehicle and restarted but vehicle would not move. Shut off again and restarted this time if went into D. Could not any faster than 35 mph. Transmission would not shift automatically. Tried manually but same results. Was able to exit interstate. Got vehicle to Chevy dealership and was told I needed a new transmission. Vehicle has 106,000 miles.

While driving on interstate 465 in Indianapolis on Tues 9/12/23 my 2017 Chevy Suburban completely lost any ability to accelerate. Fortunately I was able to coast over to the shoulder and have the vehicle towed to the closest Chevy dealership. The dealership determined it was a catastrophic failure of the transmission and recommends full transmission replacement for the vehicle to be drivable again.

A Chevy Suburban is a vehicle made to transport large families. You would assume these are made with true utmost safety precautions in mind to protect families. At just over 47K miles on my vehicle, our transmission went out, even though we have regular maintenance completed on our vehicle. The check engine light came on while driving on the highway. Was able to make it to a shop who verified it was the transmission. Took it to the dealer who also confirmed it is the transmission, and their 4th one on a newer Chevy Suburban to come in just today. They said they have 37 on the lot with transmission issues on newer Chevys, and some blew out while driving. We were very fortunate it did not blow out while driving, but it-??s unacceptable for a family car-??s transmission to go out with so little mileage. This has to be a major defect and cause for concern.

The electrical system has gone out completely comes back a few seconds later with different icons saying to roll driver side window down then up, or stabiltrax. It has also caused complete electrical failure being on a road while driving. This has also cause my wheel to jerk taking out the power steering and the engine has shut off completely to the point where I have to wait a few minutes to even turn it on. This has happened while reversing in to a parking spot and the whole car dies. It kills power so much that I have no hazard lights. When I-??m able to get it to come Back on it-??s like it reset its self. I have taken it to the shop and they have said the battery cables and the mega fuse above the battery. I know this is a known issue in other like vehicles.

I was driving on the highway at 50 mph with my 3 kids and my vehicle stop accelerating. I almost got in a major Car accident. I had no warning lights at all. I contacted the dealership to tow Car and the transmission failed internally, I ask for Assitance since the 8 speed transmission has a class action lawsuit and Chevy denied Assitance since I have a 6 speed transmission. I believe this is a safety issue that may cause fatalities driving with children and no acceleration at

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" The transmission had a failure. The torque converter along with a valve assembly failed which caused metal to go everywhere inside of the transmission case. Per the transmission shop that completed the rebuild, they have seen this exact problem numerous times before and have fixed it. Rebuilt kit included cooling bypass, billet torque converter and other parts to rebuild transmission. Vehicle only had 85K miles on it and is a 2017. Price to rebuild was $4000, and dealership quoted almost $6000 for a reman. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Vehicle transmission disengaged while attempting to merge into traffic on busy road. Vehicle was stuck in middle of intersection with 3 small children in the back while vehicles were passing at high rates of speed on a 45mph limit roadway. The vehicle was unable to be safely moved until good Samaritans were able to push the vehicle in neutral to the side of the roadway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle transmission was inspected by both a local Southern NV Chevy dealership as well as a Transmission shop and was confirmed to need replacement due to the damage from the vehicle. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The parts that were removed from the vehicle were not inspected by any of the above parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" No error codes or MILs were present before, during, or after the transmissions failure. Repair invoice available upon request.

Hi, there! I know a few people that have the same car as me Suburban/Yukon/Tahoe and everyone had to replace their transmission. My car has about 78K miles on it and I need to replace the transmission as well. It jerks really bad. When I press the gas pedal it doesn't move for like 2 - 3 seconds, but after that, it takes off like crazy. It seems very unsafe to me. Please look into it.
