This report regards a Chevrolet Tahoe 4 door truck which I purchased new. During the past 16 months both interior door handles ( the left and right front doors) have snapped off rendering that door inoperable when attempting to exit the vehicle. It appears that this is a safety defect since the possiblity exists that these door handles could fail at any time in an emergency. I have been required to replace these door handles at my expense and I was informed by the Chevrolet dealer ( hustedt Chevrolet of floral park, N.Y.) that the door handle failure is a common problem with these vehicles.
