Consumer stated that the Firestone tires on the Tahoe were not included in the recall because they were "16", when the ride was becoming rough, consumer took vehice to the tire store, and they found that two of the four tires had the belts separated on the inside.

This was manufactered at the Decatur, Illinois Firestone plant in 1998, LT265/75 R16, dot 7bw8 pda148 N07R; explosive belt failure at 72mph shot belts into the wheelwell of truck with proper inflation and maintenance (35-40psi). (dot number: 7bw8pda148 tiresize: L265/75R16)

Bridgestone dueler 684 tires, LT265/75R16size, dot#: 7bw8pda148, and after market tires. At 72mph tread on the left rear tire separated from belts, causing minor damage to vehicle. Firestone has inspected tire.

A tread on the passenger side rear tire separated enough to allow the steel belts to come through. There was no complete separation, more like a tear. Tire pressure was completely lost. The tires were 2 yrs old with adequate tread according to the service station that checked the tire. (tiresize: P245/75R16)( dot number: Tire size: P245/75R16 )
