About a 1/4 mile out of my driveway with a trailer hitched up and it finally happened. The factory/OEM distributor that was installed new in the engine in 1997 finally gave up the ghost. The pickup died and the main shaft that drives the rotor broke completely in two. This isn't a complaint so much as an admission of my amazement that that when my mechanic called me after having it towed in to their shop, he made a point to tell me it was in fact the original distributor. It's got a new one now and is running fine, but that old one should be in a museum.
