Driving on 93S in somerville MA in am rush hour traffic. The van in front of me stopped and I applied my brakes, they never worked. I was travelling approx. 10-12 mph and never stopped, therefore crashing into the van in front of me and pushing him into another car.

On a number of occasions when stopping the vehicle at a low-speed, typically pulling up to a stop sign, a vibration can be felt in the brake and the vehicle does not slow down. Under additional pressure, the brake pedal then slips down a bit and the brakes then engage. I have not taken the vehicle back to the dealership yet as the problem occurs infrequently. So far, other than an extended stopping distance, there are not been any adverse consequences. The most recent incident 07-may-2005.

A loud air blower sound could/can be heard from the car. Took the car to two mechanics who both told me the ABS system had failed and needed to be turned off in order to not drain the battery. The only corrective action is to purchase $1,200 part + labor from the same manufacturer with no guaruntee the part will work. Was told by mechanics they see the ABS failures in Chevy products daily. In November I was in an accident because ABS system had been disengaged due to failure. I do not feel safe driving this car and will sell as soon as possible.
