Brake pads wear unevenly. Inner pad wears well before outer pad wears. No wear sensor on inner pad. Only indication is metal to metal grinding, by that time the rotors are destroyed. 11-22-2006 had front pads replaced, found rotors damaged. 11-28-2007, rear rotor grinding, inner pad gone, outer pad intact. Heard of similar troubles on full size SUV and pickups manufactured by GM 1994-2004.

Parking brake was defective. Nothing happened before failure. Emergency brake did not hold. Upon inspection it was found to have a problem. Has to have brake pads replaced before it can be inspected.

2001, chev Tahoe, 28000 mi brakes squeal. Have taken the Tahoe to the dealership 5 times since purchase. Finally took it to a trusted mechanic and he agrees that there is not a problem with the brakes mechanically except the loud squeal. I am told that I can replace them if I want to get rid of the squeal, but I don't think I should have to pay to replace the brakes since they sold the vehicle to me with a squeal. The vehicle was only 5 days old the first time I took it to the dealership.
