The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, he applied the brake and the pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to decelerate and there was an extreme increase in stopping time. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that one of the brake lines suffered from severe corrosion and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe K1500. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact stated that the vehicle continued to accelerate while depressing the brakes. She was able to engage the emergency brake and shifted the vehicle into park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the brake line was rusted and corroded. The dealer recommended that she replace the brake lines. The contact did not inform the manufacturer of the failure nor was the vehicle repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000. While attempting to stop at a traffic light and engaging the brake pedal, the pedal extended to the floor without warning. The vehicle failed to stop; however, after applying extreme pressure to the brake pedal, he was able to stop the vehicle. An independent mechanic stated the brake line had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact is responsible for paying $600 to replace the brake line. The failure and current mileages were 36,000.
