I checked the web and there are several complaints about the airbags not being deployed in the event of an accident. It appears that GM is aware of the problem and has not thought it necessary to issue a recall. They have already identified the problem and have upgraded replacement connectors in the system to correct the problem.

It looks like General Motors is willing to allow for the possibility of fatal accidents since the airbags will not deploy with the defective connectors. The face that the connectors are inside the vehicle and not subject to adverse weather conditions would tell me that it is in fact a manufacturing defect and should be corrected by GM, not at the consumers expense.

Its really sad that a company like GM would allow this condition to place both children and adults in danger to avoid spending a few corporate dollars to fix it correctly. Not sure what other vehicles / model years these connectors are used on however, I am going to do a little more research into this matter.
