Tahoe 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. When the consumer applied pressure on the brake pedal at 35 mph, he heard metal grinding. A certified mechanic replaced the rear rotors and brake pads. The failure and current mileages were 36,000. Updated 12/7/09 the right rear disc brake pad failed. The ceramic pad detached and disintegrated from the pads metal backing plate, which then came in contact with the rotor of the disc. Updated 12/08/09.

We have had several problems with this vehicle. We've had tires replaced twice, rotors, and brakes resurfaced, and rear-end dropped so the springs could be adjusted. But the biggest problem has been with the roaring in the motor. The dealership has had the vehicle for more than 20 days on and off looking for this noise. I've had it to them 8 times or so trying to find it. The noise didn't start until around 3,000 miles, and gets worse and easier to duplicate with more miles. The first 7 visits they said they didn't know what it was and was clueless to it, but the last visit, and 4 days of it, they and GM decided it was a "characteristic" of the vehicle, and nothing could be done. On the otherhand, one mechanic says it's coming from the drivetrain, but others say it's an improper balance in the motor. Either way I'm paying too much money for whatever it is!
