We have had an electrical issue with our 2007 Chevy Tahoe that started not to long after we purchased. The car would not start and it seemed that the car had no electrical power. After waiting an hour or so the car would start (sometimes). The first time this happened I took to the shop and they said they could not diagnose unless the problem was occurring. Lack of starting happens 2-3x per year, and whenever the car was toed in, they were really not sure what happened. The most recent tow truck driver said that its something to due with the electrical negative cable. Due to the issue we have had:

- 5 battery changes

- Electrical wires replaced in 2009

- 7 documented tows (3 under warranty, 4 with my insurance)

- Electrical wires replaced again in 2014.

Recently my truck started to have the same issue as many others. The truck was driven from point A to point B. Truck will not start. Go under and wiggle the ground cable and then the truck starts. When I look at the clock it has been reset. Next day I go to get in the truck and no lights on in the truck. Try and start, nope, turn the key again, nope, turn the key again and all is good. Next I have the water temp gauge starting to do strange things. The temp will start to run up and then just drop to nothing, the vehicle will surge as the idle thinks it is cold, but the car turns off the AC as it thinks it is hot, WOW. I have replaced multiple items to include alternator, thermostat, temp sensor and sending unit. I have went one by one on the ground cable and ensured all fuses are good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

GM had a recall on a electrical problem concerning the windshield heated washer fluid and rerouted something and that's when my problem begin. I was getting ready for vacation in July of 2010 and had the doors and hatch open while packing the truck and when we got ready to go, my truck would not start. I called AAA and they boosted me off. So I thought it was a battery, and had it checked and was told that it was not the battery. Again in Sept, same thing happened, got a boost off, had the battery checked and was told it was not the battery. So this is the 2nd time among more that this has happened. I really think that it is a result of what they did when they disconnected the windshield wiper heating system because that is when it started and it has happened several more times since. I have put it in the shop and am waiting to see what Chevrolet says. I plan to pursue it though through GM because I truly believe it is their fault.

I bought my car pre-owned in May 2009. About a week after purchase, I noticed that my car would take a while to start when I turned the ignition. I took it back to the dealer and they couldn't figure out what the problem was so they replaced the starter. About two months after purchase, my batter died several times so I went back to the dealer and they replaced my battery. Over the last year, I've had the same type of problems. My car takes a while to start and if I leave my radio on for any length of time my car won't start and I would usually have to jump start it. The same thing happened again on Halloween but while waiting for a jump I tried restarting my car by turning the ignition as far as I could and this time it started! Two days ago I got in my car and noticed that all the instruments on my dash were out. My fuses were good so I did some research and found that the instrument panel cluster often goes out in 2007 Tahoes after 100,000k miles. I immediately began panicking because the average cost was almost $1,000! Today, once again my car died after sitting with the car off and my laptop plugged in the charger. I waited 15 minutes and tried turning the ignition all the way like I did before and not only did my car start up but the instruments came back on! Needless to say I am headed back to the dealership tomorrow! This is definitely a major problem that Chevrolet needs to address immediately!

I don't know how I even found this site. I was reading a complaint from someone who is having the same issue I just started having with the used Tahoe I purchased not even a week ago. When I test drove it, I had no issues. once I got it home a few days later I had issues. For example, When I'm on lunch at work I usually eat in my car and listen to music. The first day I did this after purchasing the vehicle when I went to start the car after sitting in it for 15 minutes, it would start. Not only would it not start, the entire electrical system seemed to die. I thought for a while that the battery was dead or dying. I tried 5 -6 more times to start the vehicle when I finally gave up and called my wife to pick up. When she was in route I decided to try and start it again (after it set for 10-15 minute). The damn thing started right up. All the lights worked and the clock had reset back to "12:00." I have been searching the net trying to find out if this issue has happened to another Chevy owner when I cam across this site. I have some powertrain warranty left on this vehicle but that's it. I'm trying to save more money to get this fixed since I "broke my bank to buy this damn thing." I just want to know what I'm getting into (dollar amount wise) before I take it in?

After driving a short distance and parking and shutting off the Tahoe for a trip in the store and return 15 minutes later the vehicle not only wouldn't start, it wouldn't have ANY electrical function. The doors that were locked were now unlocked and ALL lights were dead. 15 minutes later the truck could be started, but the clock was messed up. This ALWAYS happens on short errands like this. It seems like it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the truck to recover and then we are off on our way. Dealership can't find a problem. No codes are produced. All accessible grounds and modules have been checked or replaced. This problem continues.

In the middle of the ice storm we had a couple of months back my Tahoe wouldn't start after sitting there for 3 days. It really ticked me off because I was taking my son to the doctor and the darn truck wouldn't start. That was the whole point of buying a new car to have a reliable vehicle for these types of situations. Instead I strapped on the car seat on my old 01 Chevy and that one started up like a champ. Once the ice storm was over I took it in and the dealership said that gm had released an ECM update for battery rundown protection. GM should sent notices out to everybody that owns one and not have to experience this in a emergency situation. This sucks and I think GM ethics are all screwed up.
