About a week ago, I noticed a vibration in the front of vehicle which lasted about 20 miles. When I arrived at my destination (approximately 70 miles) I check the front wheels. The rim on the left was very warm, touching it was not too uncomfortable, and the rim on the right was hot (touching it was uncomfortable).
Yesterday, making the same trip in reverse, I had driven about 10 miles - city streets mostly with about 4 miles on the interstate - I felt the vibration again and when I stopped the left was again very warm and the right was definitely not touchable and had a hot metal smell. After about a half hour, we continued our trip at a reduced speed, carefully monitoring any change in vibration, noise or handling.
We returned to our residence without further issues. When we stopped booth the rims were cool to the touch, which part of it I attribute to driving through a thunderstorm 20 minutes before arriving at our destination.
Of course this is rather confusing and will take the Tahoe to the local Chevy Dealer on Monday? I cringe at the thought of what they will find and what it will cost me.
