The initial crack on my 2009 Tahoe was discovered in 2014 ,I went to the nearest Chevrolet dealership near me at that time.
I was told there was nothing can be done unless I paid for it out of pocket. A friend of mines heard me discussing it and stated that was funny because he had the same problem with his 2007 Chevy Avalanche.
Although I was some what disappointed I took the dealerships word that nothing could be done.
Fast forward to this year Nov. 2018 I was in an rear end collision and the crack was enlarged from a small crack to a 6/7 inch crack.
I went to the adjuster for vehicle repair and told her [GEICO] rep and she at that time stated and I quote the crack has been a long going problem and Chevrolet knows about it and had been giving customers dash covers to cover it up, not replace the dash but cover it up.
I called the dealership back with that information and was told they had not heard of this and could not direct me to who I needed to talk to. i am a long time lover of General Motors but this is making me look else for my vehicle purchase. All I want is an explanation to all the complaints about the same issue...

I KEEP MY TAHOE SPOTLESS INSIDE AND OUT. ALWAYS PARKED IN GARAGE. THE DASH IS CRACKED ON LEFT SIDE ABOVE STEERING WHEEL AND RIGHT ABOVE GLOVE BOX. NOW I FOUND OUT ANYONE THAT HAS A TAHOE AROUND THIS YEAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THE PROBLEM AND FIX THEM. IT GIVES THEM A BAD NAME.

While leaving work about 2 weeks ago. My dash shook and noticed a crack by the passenger airbag. This is very annoying. We have always been Chevy people, but this is not the quality that they used to be. I have to call Chevy and see what they want to do about this. There should be a recall on this. Have noticed several other people that have the same problem. Need a Recall !!!

Dashboard Rattles when driving. I can lift up and see what underneath the dash and have a couple dash pieces that are just sitting in place , not attached. I am sure this causes for serious issues with the airbag and needs to be addressed and GM Needs to have the dashes recalled and REPLACED!
Update from Dec 17, 2016: Dash Board has cracked all the way across from driver to passenger. Pieces are starting to fall in and the more I drive the worse it gets !

Should be a recall, I believe this could hurt someone in an accident.

I bought my Tahoe new, and very pleased until the dashboard started cracking. I keep my Tahoe clean and running well, very disappointed after a few years when the dash started cracking, of course already out of warranty.

When you purchase a high end auto you should not have to deal with a cracked dash especially when the manufacture knows it is a defect

I just noticed a crack in my dashboard on the drivers side just past the steering wheel. Annoying as hell. Just out of nowhere, BAM, a crack to start my day. This is a new problem for me though and I noticed there are more complaints about the same thing.

I noticed that multiple other owners have had the same problem. This Tahoe is kept in the garage and not exposed to excessive heat, cold, etc. No reason for it to suddenly crack, this crack causes instability in dash and annoying rattle that is intolerable. Crack is about 1 inch long near drivers front windshield. The vehicle is out of warranty and the dealership says it will cost more than $900 to repair including parts and labor.
I think GM should pay for cost of repair, I am the original owner. The service manager says GM may pay part of cost of repair but she cannot guarantee me that this is the case until I take the Tahoe in for her to look at it.

I have been going through different consumer reports and have noticed most of the top complaints with the 2008-2010 Tahoes have been cracks on the dashboard of the vehicle. The crack started two weeks ago, and has already grown to being 4 inches long. I know a bit about cars. I am in no way "a car guy" though. So I was curious of what people have done in this situation I am in.

My dash cracked and GM will split the repairs 50/50 to have it replaced. The cost for me would be $437.00. They stated that this isn't a known problem with their product. The crack is on the left top corner of the airbag. I'm hoping that one day my airbag doesn't shoot out and pieces of the dash won't hurt my family.

Bought a used 2009 Tahoe 2 months ago with 40K miles. 2 weeks ago the dashboard cracked by the Air Bag on passenger side and then over the Odometer hump. Took it back to dealer after purchasing a bumper to bumper warranty and they said "That is a COSMETIC thing". After a few minutes of "exchanging information" they decided they may want to see about fixing it. Next week I go in to see about "plastic welding". I will let everyone know what is going on.

A few weeks ago the dashboard cracked next to the airbag. Yesterday I noticed a new larger crack (almost 4") right above the steering wheel! I see many other complaints about this out there. GM should recall and fix this.

GM needs to put our a recall for all of their cracked dashboards (especially those that are less than 5 years old). It is obviously a common problem!

I didn’t even have my Tahoe for 3 yrs (2009) when I noticed the first crack near the air bag. Now, my entire dash bounces and rattles. I called dealer in 2012 and even back then was told around $2000 to fix. Which I did not have. Now that I finally do have some $$ in savings to fix, yet all these years later, I was told they no longer make the dash to replace!
I love my Hoe, and don’t want to get rid of her. GM should pay me to fix their crappy material/design. I hear even if I fixed it, it would crack again because of bolt placement or that they don’t provide a buffer between the bolt and dash?
