To Whom It May Concern, I have a 2010 Tahoe LTZ which has a cracked dashboard. I have called around to get this fixed and this is very expensive at the dealership for over $1500. I had checked around and found out that this is a common issue with certain types of GM vehicles and mine is on the list. I will like for this to be replaced by GM because because this is truly a safety issue because the cracks are on the driver side near the airbags. The contact received the recall notification in may of 2015. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to park the vehicle and wait for the part to become available. The contact stated that the dashboard was fractured near the driver and passenger air bag areas. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (mckelvey Chevrolet, 17488 us-280 dadeville, al 36853) who stated that there was no recall for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contacted mentioned that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the failure was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,488. Updated 11/07/17

The dash in my Tahoe recently cracked, & upon looking on the web, appears to be in the same place as many others' issue. I'm not sure when the crack happened (driving, parked, etc.), but it became visible to my attention the other day after some cold evenings (cold for san francisco bay area). I use a sunshade when possible. It is a regular driver. Image below is not my vehicle but almost an exact placement version for reference.

The dashboard is cracking in several places. One location is right above the instrument cluster. The other is around the passenger side airbag. This is a safety hazard as an airbag deployment could result in plastic breaking free and become flying projectiles within the cabin. Like many other vehicles with this same issue, the vehicle is well maintained, garage kept, and in good working order. The way that GM designed the dashboards and the materials used for the dashboards are the reason for this issue. Both GM and our local dealership have denied me any assistance in having the dashboard replaced.

Dash has cracked from middle to top above instrument cluster. Dash is crack on 2 corners of in-dash air bag which could cause the dash to come apart and sharp pieces be thrown toward the passenger if the air bad deployed. This is the 2nd dash on the same vehicle to crack the first time was in 2011 as was replaced under warranty.

I have a crack in the corner of my airbag. After research I have noticed that there are many people complaining about cracks in their dashboards either on the corner of the airbag or steering column. There has also been a facebook page started about this problem. It is GM Yukon and Tahoe cracked dashboards. Looking at all the pictures posted there is a bit shocking. You can not tell one picture from another because they all are cracked in the same spot. After contacting GM I was told they have many complaints daily but GM will not issue a recall in the dashboards. My concern along with many others, is if this could some how affect the performance of the airbag. I currently do not allow anyone to ride in my front seat out if fear of the airbag.

I have read thousands of complaints about the dashboard being cracked. Mine has done the same and I had taken it to the dealer to see if it was covered under warranty and they had told me no because it did not come from the factory like that. I'm thinking well no [xxx], have an electrical issue/powertrain issue/engine issue/ etc it's probably not going to come from the factory with the issue. My oldest son bought a 2010 Tahoe. I loved it and apparently made a mistake when I traded in my Toyota for a 2010 Tahoe. Last year our youngest son and his wife also purchased a Tahoe (2011). All three have dashboards that are now cracking. Obviously a defect in the product. Is GM going to do anything about this problem? from what I am reading it appears to be a nationwide issue with these vehicles. The crack in my dash is right above the airbag.
