Brakes not working, Hard brake pedal, ABS PUMP KICKS ON, NO STOP.

GM knows about the problems with their vacuum pumps and needs to do something about it before lives are lost, people are significantly hurt, or property is damaged.

bought this 2015 tahoe with 14k miles on it over a yr ago. it now has around 48k miles and the vacuum brake pump goes out? gm needs to stop worrying about moving to mexico and fixed their issues now! someone is gonna die due their on going problems. not cool when your brakes goes out doing 70 on the freeway. and now its gonna cost me over $700 out of my pocket. i understand if it was a 10 yr old vehicle and a lot of miles but this is ridiculous.

Was going thru a drive thru with my family when we approached the window of the drive thru my brakes wouldnt stop. I was pressing so hard that I was standing on my brake as we are just rolling forward. Talk about a heart attack. Going to bring my truck in to see a mechanic this weekend to see whats going on. After reading everyone elses complaint,it sounds like a brake booster failure or a brake vacuum failure since I'm having the same issue with my brakes. Now I am scared to drive it. Dont feel safe.

When applying brake at low speed (under 5 mph) the vehicle continues to roll with brake pressed all the way to the floor. This happens in drive and reverse. No noise or dash display. Not safe!

Dangerous problem a brake failure should be a recall or extension on warranty through 70000. Happens on nearly every Tahoe customer I have spoken to.
- Ed S., Knoxville, US
Brakes become very hard to press on the pedal, at times the brake assist light comes on. Mechanics say it is an ongoing problem and there is a lawsuit against Chevy for it. Says it is the vaccum booster. Also relates at this time it can not be fixed due to replacements parts are also failing, and can not get other parts for it.

Over the last few days, it has developed an issue where the brakes fail to engage at a low speed. It happens when I am inching forward in stop and go traffic and at red lights. I have to press on the brakes with a lot of pressure for them to grab. I am bringing it into the service department on Monday.

I purchased a new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ May 2015. Feb 2018 I noticed the brakes became difficult to depress when the vehicle was moving slowly such as in pulling into a parking slot or going less than 10 miles an hour. I have, since Feb 2018 taken the vehicle to the dealer and contacted GM's representative on at least three occasions. I have been told the problem cannot be identified/diagnosed. As recently as yesterday 25 Aug 2018, the same problem occurred with the vehicle. GM at this point has to be aware of this particular malfunction, they need to own up to it. If anyone else is experiencing or has experienced this particular problem, please contact me: joann.taalib@yahoo.com.

Brakes would not work under high braking activity in reverse. Had to slam brake to floor to get them to work in light braking situation.

I was backing up and tapping the brakes as I went. I noticed the brakes getting harder and harder the more I tapped till eventually I had to stand on the brakes to stop the vehicle.

This has happened with my 2015 Tahoe. While traveling in the Western US and Mexico this summer, I experienced a hard brake pedal at slow speeds three times. Twice I was in a drive thru line and could barely stop my vehicle before hitting the car in front of me. The weather was hot 110-115 in Arizona, so I thought maybe is was heat related. I also wondered if it was caused by having a GM Dealer perform a Brake Flush in August 2018.
Then when I was in Pueblo, CO I experienced the issue a third time while pulling up to the gas pump at the Sam's club in Pueblo. The temp was 100 that day. After returning to my Texas home, I did an internet search only to find this to be a known issue with GM K5 based vehicles. Doing more research I see there is a limited recall on the problem, but my Tahoe with 78,369 miles on it does not qualify for the GM covered repair.
In further searching on the web, I find out the the problem is with the Vacuum Pump and that part has been redesigned, so the new Vacuum Pump the you purchase using the same part number looks different because of the KNOWN PROBLEM THAT GM IS FIXING THE PART UNDER THE COVERS, BUT WILL NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT OVER A CERTAIN TIME/MILEAGE PERIOD...EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS THEIR ISSUE! Besides, this has been known for YEARS! So GM drags its feet long enough, then vehicles are excluded from the repair and GM saves the cost of the repair. That is just not right!
