The contact's brother owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message "Reduced Engine Power" was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned on the hazards lights and continued driving 20 MPH. The contact stated that upon arriving to his residence, he connected an OBD reader to the vehicle and read diagnostic code P2138, which indicated an accelerator pedal sensor failure. The contact stated that he replaced the part himself; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that there was water leaking inside the vehicle from the roof antenna mounting point, which caused the driver's side fuse box to rust, causing electrical failures. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
