problem #2

Feb 062024

Tahoe LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,000 miles

At lower speed, brake pedal became hard and difficult to depress. To execute a stop I was forced to engage emergency brake.

Update from Feb 13, 2024 Failure to stop at lower speed repeated on 2/8/2024 (again requiring use of emergency brake). Called dealership and scheduled an appointment for them to investigate. Service advisor stated that there was a recall on this issue in 2019. I shared my web research shows that this behavior continues to occur with this model. First available appointment is 2/13/2024.

Tahoe LT 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

After Chevy did a recall on the brakes, this issue was introduced. The issue was when you hit the brakes 2 or more consecutive times quickly, the pedal would get really hard and the car would take longer to stop. Luckily this happened mostly at slow speeds like in traffic or parking. Couple of times came within inches of hitting other cars. My kids school is on a hill so parking by the school was really dangerous when the brakes got hard.

Had to wait about 2 weeks as the vacuum pumps were on back order. Luckily my extended warranty covered it.
