Not only annoying but a huge safety hazard. Driver 1 and Driver 2 does not hold it's memory and we must remind each other to adjust before hopping in.

Trailblazer LTZ V6

  • 40,000 miles

I purchased a 2002 Trailblazer LTZ in the spring of '02. It has the "memory" mirror option which includes featuring memory set options for driver 1 and driver 2, as well as rearview curb assistance (the mirrors will tilt down to your setting to help parallel park when in reverse). This option worked great for a while. Then, in 2003, the mirrors started acting crazy. They would click excessively, tilt towards the sky or down at the ground. The local Chevrolet dealership replaced the actuators (under warranty) to see if it corrected the problem. They worked again for a while. Then, the mirrors quit holding their memory, causing me once again to have to reset the mirrors every time I got in the car. Also, the mirrors appeared to move at some point while I was driving. On numerous occasions, I thought my mirrors were reset, and then I would look to change lanes and find my mirror tilted up towards the sky or some erratic place. Not to mention the safety issue, but it has been an extreme annoyance. The dealership recently reset the transmitter, which did not fix the problem. I am taking it in now for the third time to try and resolve this issue. There is no recall, although the NHTSA now has 21 complaints on file. There have been 7 techincal service bulletins issued by Chevrolet regarding the mirrors. I have found numerous consumer complaints at various online site, but I am not sure if these people have offically made at complatint to the NHTSA. I wish that every Trailblazer owner with this problem would complain online at the NHTSA. dot. gov site so that this could get the attention to become a manufacturer's recall. I also complained directly to Chevrolet via online. I am supposed to receive a response in 48 hours. The local dealership is lost as to how to stop this annoying problem, and they are supposed to call Chevrolet when I bring in the vehicle. Please, post your complaint with the Office of Defects Investigation at the NHTSA government website (http://www.safercar.gov) if you have this problem!

Trailblazer LTZ

The side mirrors are programmed to adjust themselves for each driver. They can also be programmed to tilt down (curb view) when backing up. The mirrors frequently lose their programming, and I find them pointing at the sky, or at the ground, or just not at the position I set them at originally. I've even seen the mirrors change position when I switched from the radio to the CD player.

I've taken it in to the dealer several times, and they always reprogram something in the system. The mirrors work okay for awhile, then just start repositioning themselves again.
