When vehicle is at an idle, the oil gauge will drop to zero. Then it bounces around. Once you push the accelerator the oil gauge goes back up to normal. I was driving the other day, and all the gauges dropped to zero, service engine soon light came on, check gauges light came on, brake light came on. I pulled the vehicle over, shut the car off and restarted. All gauges were fine again. So I continued on my way home. Now oil gauge light drops to zero every time vehicle is at idle.

My 2002 chevy trailblazer gauges work when they want....this started out out as intermittent and all the gauges would go on and then quit...then start again....the radio and heater work fine but nothing on the dash gauges will work......no idea how fast you are going....how much gas....engine info...nothing.....just quit totally now...no clue about this......sounds like others are having same exact problem but we don't fall under recall or something for later vehicles....cheap ass made in china parts and cars.....vehicles are the worst investment we can make now....all junk with parts that only work half the time and cost the same amount...someone is making out and its not the consumers.......uuuggghhhhhh.....

First the speedometer started malfunctioning and showing that I was driving much faster than I was really driving. Then, the gas gauge began to malfunction, and then the rest of the gauges would malfunction at various times. VERY dangerous, and zero recalls. This is a SAFETY issue and should not be something the owners of the vehicle have to pay for.

This is not only a nuisance it is also a safety issue. The speedometer acts up, the fuel gauge is erratic as is the ammeter, and engine temperature gauge.
Update from Jan 18, 2011: GM will not acknowledge any responsibility. They had me drive to Taos, NM to have it analyzed $100.00 charge and then they called and said they will not cover it. The cost to replace the instrument cluster is $650.00 any time I want to pay it.

2002 trailblazer, every 15 to 30 seconds while driving the following items power off, then 5 seconds late power back on, does this constantly, 4 gages on the dash(temp, battery, pressure, fuel) turn off, radio powers off, windows won't roll down during this time, but work for the 5 seconds the power comes back on. intermittently won't start, interior lights turn on on their own. Please help, it's in the shop right now

I have a problem with the instrument cluster. If I don't run my fan at full speed, it goes beserk and sometime locks up. Don't ask me how the fan enables the cluster, but it does. I did some research and found that there was a bulletin for this problem. So, I called GM to find out why I did not get a recall for this problem. They acknowledged that there was a recall for it, but they said that my VIN # did not fall in the time frame this problem started occuring on Trailblazers being maufactured. So my VIN # was the wrong year Trailblazer and was not eligible for the recall. I also found that all they have to do is flash the onboard computer to repair the problem, but would not do it for free if your year did not get recalled. Instead, they would charge $800. I can disconnect the battery to clear the computer and the problem goes away for a little while, but it comes right back. I filed a complaint with the National Transportation Safety Board, since GM would not help me. I feel this is a safety problem when your speedometer locks up and you don't know how fast you are driving. Besides, you dont know how much gas you have because the gauge is out. I also feel that if this problem has been documented by GM as a problem. it should be repaired as a recall no matter what year. But now GM has filed for bankrupcy. So whats a man to do?

After the car sat for two weeks and upon starting it, the panel gauges, both dial and digital, were not working. The digital ones were off and the dial ones showed zero. After driving for a few days they came back alive. Then after a few days went back to off. We tried to find a pattern but could not find one. Because we had no time to take it in we had to keep track of our mileage so we would not run out of gas. This was the most annoying part. When we took it to the local Chevy dealership the guy seemed perplexed by the problem. When we went to pick up the vehicle we noticed a bulletin left behind by the technician and found out there is a bulletin out there for this exact problem. Needless to say, we believe since this is a known problem, it should be a recall and not our responsibility to pay for it. We had no idea this autobeef website existed and will look through here the next time we have an issue.

Gauges intermittently working. Sometimes they come on, sometimes they don't. On turning key, if they're going to work, the red engine light lights up followed by all the other lights, odometer, etc. When they don't work, the service engine light is what lights up first, followed by nothing else working. It has come on and then gotten stuck in their position on a highway. Pretty strange coming to a stop & your speedometer is still reading 70mph.
Have yet to solve the issue. The gas gauge doesn't read proper amount of fuel. It will zero out but when starting, will only go to 3/4 tank instead of full and I just filled it up. Hoping someone knows how to solve this problem. Also have issue with oil gauge dropping intermittently causing the "check gauges" light to come on.
Thinking it's a connection problem possibly. GM says no recalls on the gauges yet I have seen numerous complaints about them. While it may not be a "safety" issue, I would think it could be if you run out of gas because the freaking gauge isn't working. Disgusted with this issue. Hoping someone can help.
