I was driving home one night from work on a back road in South Carolina going 35mph when my headlights shut off and the car completly stalled, I quickly turned on my hazard lights on to warn the oncoming traffic the car that was coming up on me had to swerve into the grass because the area was so dark he didnt see my hazard lights until he got close to me. This isnt the first time this has happen there really should be a recall on these 2002 trail Blazer because this is not safe at all im worried my child will be in the truck with me and it happens again.

Very strong gasoline smell! the whole garage and entrance to my kitchen strongly smelled of gasoline one morning when I went out to take my children to school. I took it in immediately and the stealership informed me that the fuel tank filler neck had broken loose from the tank and the fuel pressure regulator and seals were leaking, the exact same problem that GM had a recall on for the Trailblazer ext. I notified GM about the issue asking for any help at all with the situation, but since my Trailblazer was not under the recall they were unable to do anything for me. It is a sad day when peoples lives are being threatened by poorly designed vehicles all in the name of making a buck. You can go on line all day long and find the same complaints from GM customers experiencing the same problem I am. With the publicity they've had in the news lately and the current lawsuits against them, we all know how GM feels about helping people who have bought their defective products. They would just as soon sweep the problem under the rug while innocent people die because of their dishonesty. Would someone with enough power and $$$ please step up and force them to take responsibility for the problems they have created?

I just purchased the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer from masano auto retailers, as is, in reading, Pennsylvania. Upon stopping at a gas station because I noticed the rear lights were not working, I smelled gas, and upon looking under the vehicle I saw gas dripping down from the bottom of the gas tank. I could not see exactly where the gas is leaking from, and only noticed that gas was running down the gas tank. I went online and noticed that this is a common problem with the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, and wondered why such a dangerous issue that could result in a catastrophe was not the subject of a recall. Really! its ok to allow people to drive in cities and park near homes, schools and businesses with leaking gas tanks, not to mention the environment for crying out loud. Where is the recall?

Lately, and intermittently, when the gas tank is 1/2 full or less and a sharp turn is made, the gas gauge goes to E, the low gas light comes on and the car will not go more than 20 mph as if it is losing power. It's most scary when it occurs making a turn onto freeway entrance ramp and I am trying to get power to enter moving traffic. Typically, I have to pull over, turn the car off and restart to get the car to run normal.

My car has been swallowing gas. It uses 1 gallon per 5 or 6 miles, it doesn't accelerate, and it keeps turning off when I slow down, and I have to re-start it. It has become very unsafe for me and all the drivers around me. I took to the dealer. They said they checked it, and they replaced only one little gas cap. They said that it will take care of the problem. It didn't. I still have the same problem of high fuel burning. I took it back to the dealer. They checked again. They said the fuel tank needs to be replaced and they want to charge me $1027 to replace the fuel tank. Several mechanics told me that there was recall on fuel system on my type of vehicles. I shared the recall information with the dealer, but they said that there is not recall. I have checked recalls on line, and have checked more. Others drivers have had similar problem. The complaints can be found in www.mycarstats.com/reports/Chevrolet/Trailblazer/2002/complaints.aspx please assist in anyway you can. I was driving home from work and started hearing the trucks undercarriage start to rattle and grind on the bumps of the road. I had a sudden loss of power on engine and it wouldnt respond to my pressing on the gas. I believed that I had gas in the truck because the gauge read half full and apparently I was out of gas. So I proceeded to pull into a gas station and as soon as we filled up, the truck would not start! I saw that my check engine light was on and had to ask for a jumpstart to get it started again. At another time and date again the truck went dead, I asked for a jumpstart and the vehicle would not respond. I now had to buy a new battery because the car damaged the original battery and now with the new battery installed my car starts but will not stay on without me pressing on the gas while in park gear. I believe something may be defective with the electrical gauges, fuel delivery system, and suspension.

I feel that even if you have had a recall issue once and the situation continues to happen then it needs to be fixed until the problem is solved I have contact GM several time and nothing has been done to ratify my problem with the windshield wipers and the 4 wheel drive and several other recall issues this is sad I say we need a class action law suit I am not one to take legal action but for people that have this kind of money and to not fix their problem that they put out on the roads for us to drive safely is shameful.

When I drive my Chevrolet Trailblazer, the gas gauge is all over. I can have a full tank one minute, and half a mile down the road have 3/4 of a tank. Also it does the same thing when it has a quarter of a tank, it will say it has 1/4 of a tank, and a mile down the road it just drops and the low fuel light comes on. Also I can park the vehicle with about 3/8 of a tank, and start it later, and it says empty, and the low fuel light is on. We also have a 2004 GMC Envoy that does the same thing. This has been an issue for both vehicles the entire time we have owned them. Both were bought in 2010. This occurs every tank of gas, and the actions are not always the exact same, so it is hard to tell if we actually need gas or not, sometimes they are actually almost out other times the have approximately 1/4 of a tank left. We have not done anything to correct the issue because we do not know what is causing it.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 40 mph, there was an overpowering gasoline odor in the vehicle. She stated that the service engine warning light was illuminated on the dashboard and the failure persisted for several months before the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer advised that the fuel tank was leaking where the filler neck met the tank body. She was advised that the fuel tank assembly would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 162,121 and the current mileage was 162,563.

Parked Trailblazer in garage last night and this morning smelled gas in garage. Underneath the truck was a puddle of gasoline that had leaked out. It seams to be leaking from below the rear seat and middle of the vehicle. I am reading about many similar problems and concerns that other owners have about this potentially dangerous situation. I would like to know if there are recalls or other means of getting some help so I can repair the problem asap. Hopefully not at my expense. Thank you for the opportunity.

Wife put fuel in the vehicle because it was down to a 1/4 tank and it is now the winter months, we dont like to be below half a tank. She drove it home and later that nite I got into the vehicle and noticed the gauge read empty and the light was on. I went to put fuel in it and at 5 dollars the tank for fuel. The gas gauge show empty upon even after filling the tank. The fuel level in the tank falls to a sufficient level to cause the gauge to display erratic and false readings. Nothing has been done to correct the failure which continues to be a constant problem. Fuel level now must be estimated through the use of the trip odometer the gauge reads full when you first start the vehicle and sometimes stays at full or reads empty with the light on. Called local garage they said sounds like a bad fuel level sensor common problem with Chevy Trailblazers from 02-09.
