Had a flat and had never removed spare tire. Took out manual and read up on how to change tire. Removed jack and set up to lower spare tire. But tire only lower a few inches. Repeated all steps over again with same result. Read about secondary locking system and tired that to remove tire, didn't work. Called AAA for help but they also were unable to lower tire, but made comment that these vehicle have been a problem for them with customers not being able to lower tire. Vehicle was removed by AAA on a flat bed to Sears tire center and flat repaired. Chevrolet must come up with a better system for there spare tire system.

I had new tires put on my car and wanted the spare tire checked to ensure it was not flat. When they tried to lower the tire they informed me that the hoist was not working properly and they could not lower it all the way. They said that it was the third one that they had seen on a Trailblazer and that they had to cut the cable in order to lower it. I called the dealership and they informed me that I would probably have to replace the entire hoist at a cost to me of $135.00 for just the hoist and it would be 1-1/2 hours of labor on top of that. I asked why it would cost me to fix it if the hoist was defective and they informed that I would have to take that up with GM.
