I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND BODY CONTROL MODULE. I CALLED GM AND WE WORKED OUT A DEAL WHERE THEY WOULD ABSORB HALF THE PRICE OF THE FIX. I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME AND NOTICED THE AC VENTS ON THE DASH WEREN'T WORKING, SO I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT'S THE PROBLEM. THEY CHARGE ME ANOTHER 95 DOLLARS TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE MODE DOOR ACTUATOR WAS BAD AND IT WOULD COST ME ANOTHER 397 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT FIX. I FEEL THIS WAS A PROBLEM DUE TO THE PREVIOUS PROBLEMS I HAD AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE PREVIOUS PROBLEM. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VENTS PRIOR TO THE FIRST PROBLEM. I FEEL THE PROBLEM WITH THE DASH CLUSTER AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION OF THE DASH VENTS, IT MUST HAVE SHORTED OUT THE MODE DOOR ACTUATOR THAT OPEN THE VENT DOORS SO AIR CAN COME INTO THE CABIN, DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I AM GOING TO CONTACT GM AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

We've had a problem with this car since the day it rolled off the lot brand new, started with musty smell coming from vents. Took to dealer multiple times over the next 5 years for same problem, they couldn't seem to be able to fix, finally installed a fan which kicks on all the time to keep condensation dried up. This helped with the smell but would run the battery down if we did not use the vehicle on a regular basis. Finally fed up with it took back to dealer to have fan removed and now the A/C and/or heat will not come out the dash vents, only the defroster and floor. Rear vents work fine. Now I know why my other vehicle is a Ford!

The problem started when I turned the A/C on in August and hot air blew out. I understand it takes a minute to cool off, as my husband informed me like I didn't already know it!! It started off warm and got HOT. It didn't do it all the time just sometimes. It happened in the winter time also. My solution of course was just to hit all of the buttons and turn it off and on until it quit. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. Then a few months later is when the air stopped blowing from the dash vents. I thought something had crawled up in the vents I was waiting for a snake to crawl out, or a nest to blow out. It wasn't until I found this and other sites that I found out this is an issue that they have known about for years and they have done nothing about it!!
