The first time the tac went out, took it into the dealer and they said it only needed to be reset. They did this and it lasted two days. Took the vehicle back and they reset it again. Lasted two days and went out. Called dealer and advised the problem. They advised that a new instrument cluster will need to be installed. This will cost $500.00. I asked if this was a recall item, they advised that it was, just not my vehicle. If I had one, I would tell them to suck it! GM should fail. Any bail out money to them is shame on us.

My 2004 Trailblazer's speedometer began telling the wrong speed in May. It will say I'm going 80 when I'm at a stop. It sometimes will work every couple of weeks for about a day then goes back to telling the wrong time. At first it was telling the correct mileage, but a couple months later it stopped doing that. Now it says my mileage is 3770. In January the fuel and oil gauges also started not working. The needle is about a centimeter past the full mark all the time until it has about a gallon left then it goes to empty which is a pain and nerve racking because all the sudden the gas light will go on and I have to go straight to a gas station. I called Chevy's recall # 800-222-1020 to see if my model qualified, but the recall is only for 2002 and some 2003. They took my info and said they would contact me if there is a recall on my vehicle. I also filed a complaint with the Highway Traffic Safety Administration (I Googled it). It took about 15 minutes and there are a lot of people complaining about the same problems (more than 400). So I would suggest you do the same and maybe they will actually do something about it. The gauges on the dash are giving wrong readings on a regular basis. It started with my oil pressure gauge showing a low reading. I had it in the shop and they replaced the sending unit, though they indicated the pressure was fine. One week later, the pressure went off the scale. Then I noticed the amp gauge showing no charge, yet everything worked fine. A external voltmeter (after a 90 mile tense ride home) showed the battery to be charging at 13.9 volts. Again, gauge problems. After this, I learned not to trust the oil gauge or amp meter. As I was driving in a snow-storm, I noticed the speedometer was showing a speed 25 miles lower then I was actually going (using my Garmin). This could have caused me to speed. Luckily, I knew the gauges were causing mischief and didn't trust them. This is a serious problem as it can cause injuries if one pays attention to the gauge for speed. GM needs to do a recall on this.

My gauge problems began with the oil pressure gauge, which decided to pegged out one day. Took it to the dealer, who stated that the instrumentation cluster required replacement, which would cost me $600. I could live with a faulty oil gauge, so passed up the repair. We went on a 3-hour trip shortly thereafter and noticed that the battery gauge was also pegged. We just happened to have the TomTom hooked up for directions and noticed that the speedometer was 10-20 mph faster than the GPS speed. After closer examination, we realized that it was also sticking. This is a safety problem that needs fixed, but I'm having a hard time parting with $600 for the repair, especially considering that numerous others are experiencing similar problems. Sounds like a safety recall is in order. And folks wonder why everyone is going to Toyota to buy their vehicles...

had this vehicle since 2006...really no complaints till this problem occurred in October 2008. first the tachometer would show 7 or 8 grand or even redline while the vehicle was sitting still or in park. it would only drop to 2 or 3 grand when engine was off. it sometimes seems like it is working, but only once in a great while. usually it is somewhere other then where it is supposed to be. then just today my wife informed me the oil gauge is at 0. great. just what i need, another outrageous car repair bill that we cant afford. why does my 1970 gto seem to be the car that is outliving the 2004 trailblazer or the 1994 impala ss i own? new cars are supposed to be the more reliable cars at this time. why do we have to pays so much for cars that don't last? gm has always been my first choice of car. these car manufactures need to stand behind our investments and step up to the plate. this gauge problem should be a recall. this is a very dangerous problem.

This started off with my RPM gauge not working and now it has slowly progressed second to my oil gauge, then my speedometer is still working as it feels like it...sometimes it registers off the charts and sometimes its 15-20 mph ahead of me. And now, yesterday after I filled up with gas, the gas gauge registered way past full!! I see where other consumers have had this problem, and if they were able to get Chevrolet to fix it, I have been looking for a recall but, not luck. I thought Chevy's' were "built to last"!! WTF!!!

First off...Go to the NHTSA website and file a formal complaint so hopefully enough reports will generate some push from the regulating agency on car manufacturers.

I have the same issue as so many other Trailblazer owners on here...RPM gauge quit functioning and then shortly thereafter, speedometer doesn't register sometimes for hours at a time while driving. This is a serious safety hazard for all of our families and all other motorists on the road. If GM can fix it for other models in their line, why won't they get off their rears and recall it for this vehicle as well?

I started out on November 26th at 9pm on what i thought was the beginning of an exciting trip to see my family for Thanksgiving. An hour within the ride i looked down to check my speed and it read that i was doing 120mph. My first thoughts was "WHAT IN THE HELL!"..now im wondering if my car will start malfunctioning and eventually stop running. I continued driving because i still had 7 hrs to travel to get to my destination. I looked again and the speedometer had headed south pointing straight down. This was very scary because i have to now travel 7hrs in the dark not knowing my speed or if something else would happen to my car. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL!!!!

Also my sister gas gauge has stopped working on her trailblazer.

I have always liked GM cars and believe the small block chevy engine to be the best overall engine ever built. I may have owned my last GM product. I have a 2004 Trailblazer and the instrument panel is shorting out. Tachometer drops to 0 at times, volt meter goes haywire, and now the fuel gauge is bezerk! Can you imagine going on a 1,000 mile trip and not knowing how much fuel you have? It is frustrating. I called GM months ago and they said it wasn't under recall but my brother-in-law has an 05 denali with the same cluster and they recalled and replaced it! Crazy!

had the vehicle 4 years, i love the way it drives and the room, but about 6 months ago the speedometer and tach went crazy then quit working. now my voltage gauge don't work! from what I've found online, it's a cluster problem and I'm not the only one!!! recall! recall! recall!! where is it!!! i paid 18,000.00 for this vehicle and helped line a lot of executives pockets with my hard earned money. they are crying "bailout", with millions of our tax dollars. I'm suggesting if we help them, they MUST HELP US IN RETURN! RECALL!!! what i ASK for is so much less than what they are DEMANDING!

My speedometer went out 1/12 years after I bought it and was no longer under warranty. I check several places and its $500-600 to fix it. It started out where it would be off a bit so I would just calculate how fast I was going, then it would stop working for awhile then start working again. Now it faces straight down and will not work at all. The RPM gauge is a little off. Everything else doesnt work at all except for the gas gauge. The battery and cold/hot gauge NOTHING works. I cant afford to fix it and have been driving like this for 4 years. If I get pulled over that is a huge fine for it not to work. THEY SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THIS!!!

Ok, so I buy a "trusty" Certified Preowned Chevy Trailblazer. Two weeks after enjoying it....the MOH gauge and RPM gauge fluttered and stopped working. HMMM.....I called the dealer and asked about it. They checked my warranty....OOPS! It's covers everything but the gauges! So i travel myself down to the auto-mechanic. He slaps me with a fat bill of $568 to fix it by a CHEVROLET CERTIFIED MECHANIC at my local CHEVROLET dealership. So..I pay the price. Low and behold if it didn't happen again! I called the mechanic up and nothing i can do because it was only guaranteed for 6 months. So I contact GM. NO recalls for the THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of complaining trailblazer owners who paid for the $30k truck but all those Suburban, Sierra, Silverado & Tahoe owners that paid $40k and up for their vehicles got recalls for the SAME EXACT ISSUE WE ARE HAVING WITH OUR GAUGES. Amazing what money can do for ya these days! Because my vehicle cost $10k less than Squeeky Joes, I'm screwed! JUST WANT TO SAY IF YOU FIX IT...IT'S GONNA HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. MY SUGGESTION...DON'T BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT! THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT! WELL AT LEAST THE LESS THAN $40K ONES ANYWAYS.

One day we were heading to the airport and when I glanced down at my speedometer, it read that I was going 90 but i know i was only driving at about 40MPH because I was on a bumpy windy road that I wouldn't speed on. After a while, the speedometer made it's way back to zero and would work okay for about a month, then it went crazy again, reading 100 while I was at a stoplight. Now it is stuck facing down, overlapping the gears.

These days, I don't even look down at the speedometer because it doesn't work and it's pointless. When I took it to my mechanic, we asked him to give us an estimate and he said it would be somewhere between $500-600 to fix.

In the last month my RPM has been beginning to act up.....but that's another complaint. I just want to warn you folks that if you don't fix it, it may cause more issues, I'm not sure, but based on my observations, that's what happened on mine.
