This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
I have a 2004 Trailblazer. First tack gauge went out, then the oil pressure gauge, now the fuel gauge is starting not to work properly. I gave this to my daughter because she had a new baby so it would be safer now I have to worry she could run out of gas or can blow up the, motor because the gauges don't work properly. I had the vehicle in the dealer shop before the warranty went out and I told them the tack gauge the acting up and he said it was fine, I know now that he knew there was a problem... GM should fix this since we all have the same problems...

Well I see I am not the only one with this problem, my speedometer went out first, would get to 60 mph, would stick, and would keep going up from there, hard to judge sometimes how fast/slow I am going, this week my fuel gauge and oil gauge have started sticking fluctuating, I have no idea how much gas is in my car at the moment, I am sad to see that there is no recall on this problem, I guess I'm going to have to shell out a small fortune to get it fixed pain the bum !!!!

first noticed gas gauge wasn't working when i left my house one morning with what i thought was a quarter tank however became stranded 3 miles up the road with my 4 children in the vehicle doing my morning shuttling to school..since the gauge continued reading 1/4 tank i didn't suspect that to be the problem until the tow truck driver arrived and was aware of issues involving the gauges he added a little bit of gas and wouldn't you know it started right up! He added enough fuel to get me to a gas station where i filled it up only to get back in the vehicle and see my gas light on and beeping at me..this is still an issue since no one i contacted would offer any resolution. my next Chevy headache started just last month when i was pulled over by a police officer in a nearby town for doing 15 mph over the posted limit...my speedometer was reading 0..i was trying to keep pace with the other traffic but i got picked out of the jack pot that day i explained the situation and while he could have cited me for speeding he was sympathetic stating he only buys foreign vehicles now due to years of wasting his money on chevys and he let me go with a warning. how many speeding tickets or accidents have to occur before gm decides to own up to their screw ups and finally issue a recall??? this will be the last chevorlet/gm i will own!

I bought this vehicle used and it looked great and ran great. After a while, I noticed all the gauges malfunctioning. The gas, rpm, speed gauges all malfunction. I figured it wasn't worth fixing. I am very disappointed with this vehicle.

Gauges on my '04 Trailblazer started sticking one by one until most of them are now useless. GM has a recall for this exact issue, but does not include the trailblazer as one of the recalled vehicles. They should stand behind their parts and fix them when they are defective. This is my first and I think last Chevy/GM for this simple reason.

We understand there are MANY! COMPLAINTS about the gauges not working on their Trailblazers. I own a 2004 and I'm sick of talking to the dealers and having them say there is nothing they can do except charge me $500 plus dollars to fix a problem they CHEVY needs to to own up to. (THE LIST IS LONG ON THIS SAME COMPLAINT)

Our family went on a vacation this weekend, while we were on the interstate my temp gauge started climbing. The last week we have had the speedometer go crazy, the abs and brake lights stay on ,and we actually had to have the car towed home cause we were afraid to drive it that far, due to all the electrical problems the car would not shift. the brakes also felt spongy. also the car sometimes locks by itself. its VERY DISTURBING THAT CHEVROLET WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM for so many hard working Americans. They should be put out of business

I am a Realtor and was out with a client when we began to lose power. It felt like we were running out of fuel but the fuel gauge indicated that we had a half tank of fuel. Turns out we did not have any gas. This was extremely embarrassing as my client think that this occurred before today and in fact it didn't. I filled up and the needle went way above the F indicator on the gauge. I am so nervous to drive the truck right now.

I own a 2004 Trailblazer LT. Instrument panel reflects intermittent readings on fuel gauge first, then speedometer, then oil gauge. Was told expensive to repair. Pulled recalls and found recalls on larger SUV's and trucks, but not for Trailblazer even though failures are described as same. Called GM; was referred to Chevrolet at 800-222-1020; automated service; when entered VIN was told no recalls and referred to www.gmownercenter.com for further information. This is a dangerous situation because I frequently travel with small grandbabies and cannot depend on gas gauge.

I bought my 2004 Trailblazer as a program vehicle in Dec 2005 with a little over 17,000 miles on it. Within a few months my engine needs servicing light started coming on and staying on. The first couple of times I ran to the dealership, they couldn't find the problem and reset at no charge, then within a few weeks it would do it again. I believe now that this was the start of my instrument panel problems.
Within a year my gas gauge would fluctuate wildly if I got below a qtr of a tank of gas so I just learned to fill it up when it got to a qtr and ignored it too after the dealership couldn't find that problem. Now I wish I would have complained every time something else went wrong because it has gotten very much worse. My battery/charge gauge would bounce back & forth...the oil pressure gauge would bury itself...finally the speedometer stuck at 120. After finding out the cost to repair I learned to reset by turning off & on several times until it lowered back to zero but every time it rains or is cold it would do it again. I carry a hand-held gps in my glovebox to read my speed in case I can't reset it. Now its gotten so bad it does it every time I get in it.
My husband was talking to a friend who works at a local salvage yard to see if they had any panels there and he told him today he had heard of a recall. We called our dealership with our VIN#, he called Chev, and they are sending a replacement. All I have to pay for is labor which should be around $100. I don't know if there is a recall or if we just got lucky and our dealership wants to keep customers that have referred literally hundreds of people to them. Either way, I'll take it.
All I can advise is gripe, gripe, gripe some more. Call your dealership and keep calling. Insist that they call GM and complain. You might get lucky like I did. I have an appointment to go tomorrow to start the repair process. I hope it all works out because other than this issue I love my TB. It now has 96,000 miles on it (the dealership said it had to be repaired before 100,000 or they couldn't cover it) and I've never had any problem whatsoever other than the stupid panel. Good luck!

While driving home from Chicago in extremely cold weather battery indicator was sitting at the bottom registering who knows what. Then the oil indicator must have felt alone and joined in on the bottom of the dial. Then the big Kahuna, the speedometer fell in line and made it a trio. Guess they were vying for position on the bottom. The indicators did return to normal and had been fine until a few days ago when the speedometer went haywire again. From what I've read, GM is not going to do anything as far as a recall and it's not a cheap fix. I've also read that GM knew it was an issue with the 2004's and have since corrected it in later models but will do nothing for us. I'm also told that the car will at some point stop running because of it. Not sure if this is true. Has anyone fixed this problem on their own with success?

Hi
First my tachometer went haywire which didn't really bother me but now my speedometer wrapped around the other end which really is a problem. When i called G.M. in montreal they said there is no recall or warranty as my truck is already a 2004.I told the guy that the fact that they came out with an updated version of stepper motors proves they new the old ones were no good and it should be recalled anyways.HE SAID ,NO WAY WE CAN HELP YOU.I told him i had bought gm all my life but now my next truck will be an import and they have lost me as a customer.i will be using the guy on e-bay to repair my cluster for $50.00 u.s. plus shipping both ways. THANKS

I have had this problem now for over two years. The speedometer says what it wants, not what it is. It's funny to be going 110 miles an hour in bumper to bumper traffic, not know the status of your oil pressure and have a tachometer stuck on 1000 rpms eternally...NOT!!!
Today, the fuel and temp gauges finally gave up the ghost too. This cannot be a safe situation for anyone. They should have acknowledged the issue along time ago, done a recall, and have made the appropriate changes. Now, all the gauges in my car are whacked. Have no clue how fast or slow I am going so all I can do is keep up with the traffic and if I can't tell how much fuel I have in the car, I will most likely be stranded soon. Pay $800.00 fto replace the parts thanks to their lousy engineering? No, I won't.
It used to be Chevrolet made a decent vehicle. I ALWAYS bought Chevy. It was a dependable car. I will be looking into buying a car next year and am certain I will NOT be considering US made any more. Long gone are the days when "Buy American" meant top quality when it came to cars.

Started with tach then fuel, tach is always screwed up. The fuel and temp gauges are off about half the time. Chevy dealer said this is very common and would cost about $750 to fix, but gm was doing warranty on the trucks. I bought this new for my wife. This is my last gm. I ordered a new FORD f350 on 03/03/11, I had my 99 f350 since new, great truck.Ford stood behind what few problems I had. I will buy her a new FORD as soon as possible.
- Joe S., Colfax, CA, US
called nhtsb and gm they said for me to file a complaint with gm, I did and they said they would not pay to have the gauges fixed, but said the dealer would give me a 15 percent discount, the parts cost about 500 dollars,I did not fix the gauges and I will trade it in for a ford ,dodge ,jeep or Japanese model.

I have a 2004 TB which was just great until the cd player stopped working; then the instrument panel stopped working and now the chimes have stopped working!.. The bad thing is I'm sure there is a short as far as the chime goes, because sometimes it will work, but most times it won't. As to gas, battery and other right sided gauges.. kerplunk! nothing. they don't move at all so I have to be extra vigilant and not run out of gas. I refuse to even consider forking out hundreds to get this repaired when it's clearly a Chevy/GM shortcoming. I'm just wondering has anybody gotten this fixed in the Balto Washington area?? If so, how much did u have to pay -- an arm or a leg???
- inspireus, Baltimore, Lower Level, US
Seriously! I looked and there are on 1 sight alone 19,000 complaints of the same problem. First it was the cruise wouldn't work all the time. Then it was the speedometer and now it is "check gauges" "low oil pressure"; "stop engine." Then it will be fine. Then it will go back to the same display. Chevy has recalled the higher models but not this one. I want to get rid of it. I don't have the money to fix it and I don't feel I should be responsible for payment of fixing it went it is their issue! Come on Chevy, fix it. I have a big mouth and word travels fast. When people know you took the government bailout and are not standing behind your product, do you really think they will support your company. If this isn't fixed. I won't buy another Chevy and my entire family is Chevy. I'm sure they won't either.

I found out that this is a common problem on 2004 trailblazers, one day the tack goes crazy, last about a week, next is the oil pressure gauge, and after that the heat gauge goes crazy, called the NHTSB to file a complaint, they took information and gave me a number to contact gmc about the problem, I have talked to about to 4 people from GMC about the problem, they contacted my chevy dealer, but all they want to do is have the dealer give me a discount on the repair, gmc does not want to own up to there mistakes that will cost them a lot of money, they had the same problem in 2004 trucks and they did a recall to fix the gauges, but If they put the same gauges made by the same company in the blazers, why not recall the blazers, Money that's why.
- Pete M., Pueblo, CO, US
Instruments like speed and temperature were un-reliable, seems to be a common problems but no recall.
- Micahel M., Murphy, TX, US
I love my car but if the gages start being a problem again I will trade in for something else. The problem of fluctuating gauges especially the speedometer will cause me to loose my CDL liscense and harder to find a job. G M RECALL please you got the GOVERNMENT BAILOUT WHAT ABOUT US POOR SUCKERS THAT KEEP PUTTING OUT FOR CORP. AMERICA. I buy American every chance I get. My uniforms are union made in america.
