The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving 55 mph, the speedometer indicated a speed of 0 mph. Each time she operated the vehicle, the contact stated that the speedometer would display an improper reading. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where it was repaired. Three days later, the failure occurred again. In addition to the speedometer, the fuel gauge also gave incorrect readings on the fuel level and the RPM gauge also displayed incorrect readings. The problems had not been remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000 and the current mileage was approximately 142,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that his gas tank filler neck failed and was loose. As a result, fuel leaks out. The manufacturer and dealer stated that the VIN was not covered under the recall and they only offered to pay 50% of the repair cost. The failure mileage was 55,000. Updated 02/04/09 the consumer looked underneath the vehicle and discovered gas was seeping from what appeared to be where the rubber hose from the filler neck attaches to the gas tank and was seeping down onto the bottom of the gas tank. Updated 02/04/09.

The check engine light kept coming on and they replaced a sensor and had me buy a new fuel cap which didn't fix the problem. I had taken my vehicle to the dealership 5 times before they correctly diagnosed the problem as a fuel tank vapor leak. The only way to fix this is to replace the entire fuel tank. My vehicle has been in the the service department for the past 3 weeks and the fuel tank is on national backorder. I have been reading about this being a problem on the Trailblazer ext. On many websites and blogs. It seems that this would be of a huge safety concern.
