Trailblazer LS V6

When I filll up, my gas hand goes passed the Empty line and then the line comes on with an annoying beep. It stays that way for a few days then finally it goes to a quarter tank and then it goes to half a tank and then back to below E.....it has a mind of it own!

I track my gas with my mileage. I've contacted GM but because I purchased an extended warranty thru the dealership they can not cost assist me. I was told by a District Specialist with GM that if I did not have an extended warranty thru the dealership they would have provided cost assistance. This is a serious issue with Trailblazers that needs some serious attention. To me, this should be a recall.

traded a perfectly good ford in for this piece of sh*t wtf...the gas gauge did not work on it when i bought it. dealer said it was the fuel sending unit & gave me $500 to fix it. was not the problem, oil pressure gauge started going haywire next then the speedometer then the amp gauge. I found out it is the cluster. NO RECALL??????ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF I AM AT ANOTHER CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP I HOPE THAT I AM INVOLVED IN A DRIVE BY SHOOTING BECAUSE THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN OWNING ANOTHER PIECE OF F*CKING SH*T LIKE GM(GREAT MISTAKE) OUR PRESIDENT USED OUR MONEY FOR THEM WHY DOESN'T HE STEP IN AND MAKE THEM USE SOME OF THEIRS FOR THERE JUNK THEY SOLD....

I'm adding this complaint as it appears the Gas Gauge failure is not only a problematic issue with this model but possesses a definite design flaw.

In essence, if General Motors thinks continually ignoring their responsibilities in remedying these issues is the best approach; then, someone within that organization is smoking weed.

As for me, GM "today you've lost another committed customer".

I have had many problems with my trailblazer. I want to love this car but every year since I have had it almost 3 years.....I have to shell out $1200.00 on repairs!!! First I had wiring problems...Then my speedometer did not work....Now this problem. Gas gauge light stays on even after I put gas or it goes to 1/4 tank. As I read online its common. Should be Re Called!!!!

I never had a problem with my trailblazer, until the fuel light wants to stay on after i fill the tank up everytime. I called a dealer ship to see how much it would cost and it was around 500.00 there's no way im paying that much for it to be fixed. so hopefully i can do it myself, but i need some suggestions on what it could be to fix it.

Trailblazer LS 4.2L I6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

Gas light stays on even after filling the tank. Gage barley rise above the red empty mark This is an extremely annoying problem, and I refer to it as a problem and not an inconvenience due to the fact that it has caused me to run out of gas on two occasions. After walking ¾ of a mile purchasing a gas can filling it and walking ¾ of a mile back to my vehicle in 20 degree weather I decided to keep a gallon of gas in the back of the vehicle (Which I am not real comfortable with)!!! Wish GM would put out a recall for this problem, but you know how the bean counters are until someone gets seriously hurt because of this problem they will ignore it, at our cost. I do like this vehicle, and thought with its reputation it would be fairly defect free, although several little problems have led me to consider Toyota in the future. Sorry GM, but you need to listen to your customers better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this truck because of how great of a reputation Chevy's had and I wanted to buy am american made vehicle. Well now I wish I had bought a Honda!! I have ran out of gas 5 times and all in extremely bad spots. It has gotten so bad that I have to carry a gas can full of gas with me at all times just in case which is not at all a normal thing to do. If this is such a common issue I think GM should RECALL THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been putting up with this problem for almost 2 years, using the odometer as a gas gauge...I finally ran out of gas on 1/25/11 by myself! Thank God for cell phones and Thank God I didn't go over the hill! I did not realize the steering goes out when this happens! This was really scary to me trying to steer to get enough distance off the road. Luckily I was able to get to the side of the road and turned my hazard lights on. I was 2 miles from my house. Sure glad it wasn't 50 miles from my house!! This is the most aggravating and stressful problem with this vehicle. I have talked to many other 2005 Trailblazer owners and they have the same problem. I just wish they would report it. There definitely should be a RECALL!!!!

I never know how much gas I have in the car. I have run out 3 times. I have to be really accurate with my math skills-figuring the price of gas/to gallons per car. I am usually safe by setting the button until 200 miles at around 3.15 per gallon.

Very disappointed with this vehicle. The gas gauge quit working. The first time under warranty then a year later and a half later, not under warranty, quit again. Very expensive to fix. Then, the speedometer quits working. Now, the heater blower quit working. That's not even counting all the small things that have quit working since we bought this vehicle.

This issue is a big pain in the ass. Never did figure out what the fix is. I know the dealer would want way too much to fix. I am a DIYer and while I know I could fix it I have no desire to mess with it. We just use the odometer as it still works by some miracle. We fill up and set the Odometer to 0 and when it reaches 300 miles we worry about finding a gas station. This is another in the long list of issues with this SUV we just had to have. We loved the thing when we got it and want to love it now but the more i research the issues we have the more I find it is not just us. It seems a lot of people have had one or more of the same issues. I suggest anyone who has one get rid of it or at least research all of the possible issues because if you only have one problem now chances are you will have more later. Be prepared or at least know what could go wrong so you aren't taken by surprise when the repair bills start flowing in.

Trailblazer v 6

I would tell anyone thinking about a trailblazer don't do it.They are a piece of sh*t!!!!!! And that's being nice. I had mine to the shop a lot. Before the warranty was up I have had to get a water pump put in.The engine light has been on forever because the shop said I needed oxygen sensors about $300 so I bought them and put them on but wrong that was not the problem but did I get my money back =not . Plus they do not tell you even thou you bought the extended 100,000 mile warranty it does not cover this because it is electrical. This is bullshit because this happen before the warranty was up. Then I have the fuel gauge that does not work but of course it stopped working after the warranty. Now let me tell you this is the biggest pain in the ass I have ever had. My biggest fear with this is I am going to be out on the highway and run out gas and get hit and killed because I can not get off the road or that their is no gas station in sight. There is people still with no cell phone and I am one of them. Also it pisses me off because I have to rent a car to go to North Carolina to pick my grandson up when his parents have military duty for weeks at a time. All because my car is a piece of sh*t now . And the rotors wear out even if you have your brakes changed on time. The back window wiper has never went in the arm rest .I had that to the shop ,they say it is just dirt and I keep telling them they are full of sh*t.And now I have to get a knob for the 4 wheel drive because that broke and I have maybe used it 10 times ,that was a big waste of money plus it also makes a noise ,but let the shop tell it -it is nothing.Another thing that pisses me off is the repair shops .If it is under warranty why can they not go out of there way to figure it out after all the dumb ass are getting paid.I think the reason why they do not is because it make the dealership look like all they are selling is sh*t,but you would think they would like to sleep better at night knowing they did people right.

I had no idea this was such a common problem until reading this web site. I must be a lucky one, this is my first problem with the car and lasted this long. After fill ups it goes to empty and only reads about a quarter of a tank after driving a while. I have been using one of the trip odometers to keep track. The empty tank warning sound gets annoying though. I also filed with the NHTSA with the hope it will at least be corrected in future cars.

this was a pain in the butt; when you have two people that share a car and the fuel gage doesn't work it can get crazy, and dangerios. i ran out of gas three times, in traffic and on busy roads, I even had to cross a big busy highway to get some fuel. they should have a recall on this, with over 400 hundred people having the same problem.

I first ran out of gas not realizing what was going on. I finally realized that my needled wasn't working and had already planned a trip from North Carolina to Florida. I had to guestimate my milage all the way to Disney World!! Praying the whole time not to run out of gas. Needless to say we made it there and back safely and it cost me a little over $300 to get this fixed.

This gas gauge being constantly empty is unacceptable. I found a forum where hundreds of people have the same issue - contacted GM filed complaints with NTSA and still NOTHING!!! It can't be US who have caused the issue... how about the people who assembled or drew up the plans for 2004, 2005 and 2006 Trailblazers? Many of us have asked for recalls and just got lip service!!! They all say it is not a safety hazard. I beg to differ.. if I run out of gas on the highway and someone hits me in the @ss end... I think that'd be a safety hazard. I have to use the "fuel used" in order to have an idea of how much gas I have!!! Go here and see we are NOT alone...

my fuel gauge went out about a year ago. went to the dealer he said it could be 2 prob. 1 fuel gauge or sensor in fuel tank. either prob. was going to be about 500.00 to fix then. now i understand it could be a much as 800.00. i just use my digital read out on my fuel used gauge. i have ran out of gas 3 times.. now the dam thing wont take fuel. it acts like it is full. it takes me about 6 min. to put 2gal of gas in the tank. Chevy says it will cost about 400.00 to repair. avg. cost to repair the fuel gauge is about 600.00 so that is a 1000.00 to repair the fuel system. the truck has approx. 60.000 miles on it. I think Chevy should have a recall if not for the whole thing at least for the fuel gauge. why does anyone want to make crappy cars. the fuel gauge prob. has happened to a lot of people. how many people have to have the same problem before they do a recall? I think this is bad business for GM. no wonder they had to have a bail out. Fix the Dam problem GM
