Trailblazer LS 4.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

The dealer wrongfully sold me it like this and claimed 4wd worked when I bought it. The 4wd engagement hub by the right side wheel stripped out so the axle won't engage. It got to the point where I had to remove the CV axle since it flopped around. It's a $500 item plus new axle that bolts on. Would be pretty easy to replace but a lot of trouble.

When you put the car in 4 wheel drive, it grinds like metal grinding metal, and will not drive.

Trailblazer 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

3rd complaint on this vehicle. Going up snowy road, switched into 4wd hi from AWD and realized I was skidding more, not less, quickly realized front wheels were not engaging. Tried 4 lo, same thing. went back to AWD and front wheels engaged and able to make it up the mountain. Took it in a week ago and they're still working out what is needed. Guy now says it needs a new transfer case and there are NONE in the entire country. So he's putting in a used one. It took him a week to finally diagnose the problem after first trying a couple other things. Other problems I've had with this vehicle are fuel gauge hasn't worked since 40K and this summer while going down the highway transmission wouldn't engage. Once engine cooled down was able to restart and get going again.
