P0410- Water in pump. Replaced check valve and pump. Worked until my first winter, then check engine light came on again. What dick thought to put a pump near the ground????

We had the check engine light illuminate and when I checked the codes it listed a issue with the secondary air pump system. Fortunately the pump was not the problem as it can from freeing condensate entering the system and jamming the fan/pump.

A simple enough test is to disconnect the tubing that normally feeds the secondary air pump check valve. This is a valve that makes sure that the airflow only goes in one direction. Our issue turned out to be that the valve seized in the closed position. When you run the engine at start-up with the hose disconnected you can #1: See that the pump it throwing air down the hose. & #2: the valve should give out a noticeable sound because of the exhaust gases that are trying to escape through it.

Upon swapping out the bad with the new the engine stopped giving the trouble code. I have learned that these Trailblazers are prone to this type of system problem. Best of luck!

If it wasn't one problem it was another. Once I fixed something then something else went wrong. I cannot get a break. I thought this was a good purchase but as soon as it went out of warranty everything is going wrong. I replaced the secondary air injection system, but that still did not fix the problem. It is one big headache with my check engine light on constantly. It really gets on my nerve I hate seeing that orange light every day. I just wish it would go off and stay off. It will be costly to get it fixed seeing how I have replaced the secondary air pump and it still is not fixed.

Secondary air pump failure also meant changing out a couple other parts. GM admits to the design flaw (pump accumulates water and fails, because of pump placement at the BOTTOM of a run), and has changed the design, but will not cover the cost of parts for the failure when it occurs - and the parts on this one are expensive. The most aggravating part is knowing that if it failed once because of design flaws, it will fail again (for me or whoever I foist the car onto).

800 bucks right before Christmas isn't great, but I had to be able to pass the emissions testing in order to get a new license plate sticker. Thank god for the Bank of Mom to float me a short term loan so I can drive to work at corporate America.

Another example of a corporation's refusal to accept responsibility for its own mistakes. grrrr

Another electrical issue!!!!!!! Who is the dip sh!t engineer who doesn't know water flows downhill!!? Nice job in placing the air pump at the lowest level on the frame!!! Good job a-hole. There is no way water will condense in the pump and freeze. There is no way water will be blown into the intake and f up the throttle body. I've fixed this twice already!!!!! Nice design. Idiots. No more Chevrolet for me!!!!!!
