I filled my gas tank full and it then the gas light comes on. I am having to keep track of my miles so that I don't run out of gas because the fuel needle keeps going up and down, not reading accurately. Now every single time that I put gas in this happens. Very frustrating, especially when I want to travel out of town and you are not sure when you'll see the next gas station. Are there any recalls on this?

Gas guage stop working. I recently received a letter from GMC aknowledging a sensor problem with their 2005 GMC cars but only willing to reimburse 50% of what apparently is their fault. This is a problem that need to be fix 100% by GMC. Stand behind your products!

We are experiencing a defective gas gauge--it registers empty or it may move up a bit or go down some. We are unable to determine how much fuel we actually have. I go on a trip of 350 miles one way every month to visit my mother and it is a constant worry. I am so afraid I will run out of gas on the turnpike--we just never know. We did get a letter from GM saying they were aware of the problem-interestingly enough, though they will not pay to have this dangerous situation affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles fixed--only half, which we feel is unfair. This is a problem affecting a great number of people, simply by the fact they sent the letter--they need to make it right by paying for the whole remedy before someone is killed as a result of this faulty gas gauge. We would like to be a part of a class action suit against GM for the full payment.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with a faulty fuel gauge. A year or two ago the fuel gauge started working intermittently. Sometimes it would show an accurate reading and other times it would not. Now the fuel gauge just shows empty 100% of the time, no matter how much fuel is in the tank. Due to this issue, I have ran out of fuel and stalled several times. As you can imagine, this is a major safety concern. When the vehicle stalls power steering and braking are lost and it can be difficult to maneuver a large vehicle like this without those systems. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they are stating that the problem is a bad fuel sending unit and the cost to repair is over $600. Researching the issue online I have found that this seems to be a widespread issue. This is unacceptable and a recall needs to be ordered.

The fuel gauge began to be inaccurate. It would occasionally work but not consistently. After about 2 months the gauge stopped working completely. The problem was the sensor in the gas tank malfunctioned and needed replaced. Once the sensor replaced the gas gauge works accurately. The cost of the replacement was $465.

When my mileage on my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer was approximately 50,000, the fuel gauge suddenly stopped working and reads that there is an empty tank despite being filled to capacity. From my understanding, this is a systemic fault with the fuel sending unit in the 2005-06 Chevy Trailblazer models that has the potential of putting consumers at great risk due to the potential of running out of gas on expressways, highways, etc. And, as a result of an unexpected loss of mobility, being unnecessarily subject to imminent personal harm from other vehicles. I have lodged a personal complaint with GM and understand that they are aware of this defect in the fuel sending unit as being a system problem, but have failed to issue any voluntary recall of the part. Due to the individual cost of approximately $800 for a consumer to procure this repair (which almost always seems to occur when these vehicles have surpassed 40,000 miles and are therefore outside of the warranty period), I believe it is very likely that a sufficient number of those consumers affected by this part failure, especially in the current economic climate, will be financially unable to afford the cost of repairing this defective part on their own and will, accordingly, be subject to unnecessary and substantial risk given the potential for them to find their vehicles out of gas without any warning whatsoever. Moreover, the potential for collisions due to the sudden deceleration or stranded vehicles on the roadways also poses a substantial threat to other drivers that is entirely unnecessary and extremely dangerous.

The contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the fuel level gauge momentarily dropped to empty, before going back up to the correct fuel level reading.
