While traveling to visit family in NC on I-95 my third brake light flew off the back of my car. Thank God it didn't cause an accident or hit another vehicle but it was dangerous to have to pull over on the busy interstate to unhook the light that was left beating against my back glass which has a deep scratch from the light hitting against it. Not very happy.
A recall needs to be issued before a major accident happens, this is something that shouldn't be ignored, safety should be a top priority.

Going down the express way today running around 70 MPH & hear something being torn off the rear of our 05 Trailblazer. Looked in the rear view mirror & saw the top third brake light assembly flying in the air.The vehicle behind me ran over it..What a piece of crap!! Nothing but problems with this vehicle.

While driving on a freeway in North Carolina the complete third taillight cover of my 2005 Trailblazer flew off across the busy road, but fortunately it didn't hit any cars and I was able to regain the part. The part is defective! It is improperly assembled and should be recalled! As I can see from other posts, I am not the only one who has experienced this problem. What will it take before GM takes action on this???

This is the third time this has happened. It's an acknowledged design defect in the Trailblazer. Snow/ice buildup under the top of the rear hatch (spoiler) eventually causes the spoiler to detach from the vehicle (particularly when opening the hatch, or driving at highway speeds, or in windy conditions).

As I was driving down the highway at 65 mph, third brake light flew off into the traffic behind me where my husband was following me on his motorcycle. He had to swerve to avoid the piece, nearly killing him!!! Absolutely ridiculous that we notified Chevy of the problem and they were not willing to fix it unless we would pay $600+ to have it replaced... and was told the problem would happen again. I will never purchase a Chevy product again because the company doesn't stand behind their poor design.

This is my 3rd time having the same issue with the rear spoiler/brake light. 1st time (spoiler came off and couldn't open tailgate) i paid $500 to have it fixed, 2nd time (spoiler jammed again and couldn't open tailgate) Chevy was going to pay to fix it but by the time i found out i already had someone "rig" it back up. 3rd time while driving 65mph down highway the whole spoiler/brake light disconnected and hit the vehicle behind me. Luckily no one was injured but the gentleman was pretty shook up as well as the 4 children he had in his vehicle. I am now back on the phone with Chevy because I'm finding out they cannot pass my truck for inspection without this "factory" 3rd brake light and I REFUSE to pay for it out of my pocket again! I am being told that it is my fault i keep having this issue because I'm not brushing the snow off properly in the winter months?! Curious to see how many more people aren't brushing their vehicle off properly! I encourage anyone with this same issue to contact Christine @ 866-790-5600 ext: 32704 to file your complaints. Also file a complaint at www.odi.nhtsa.dot.gov or safercar.gov under safety complaints!

My family was driving home on the freeway when the complete third taillight cover flew off across the busy road . I called the dealership and they said it was a well known trailblazer problem .

The third tail light assembly came off while we were driving on the intersate in a construction zone. There was no way to stop and retrieve thepart or move it out of the road. Luckily no accidents acured. I can't find a replacement part as of yet. I'm just thankful no one was injured.

This is the second occurence on this vehicle. I was informed by the body shop that it is a known problem and that Chevrolet will not do a recall. In several cases the whole upper assembly with brake light comes completely off and endangers oncoming traffic. There should be a recall on this to fix the defective brackets and hinge. But Chevrolet won't take any action until someone is severely injured or killed.

The 3rd brake light blows off with the cover going down the hiway. And chevy said it is a issue with the design. From the ice and snow. And you try to open your tailgate it weakens. And will come off. Then you have to by the new cover trim for $700 and a new led brake light for $450. Plus pay to have it painted to match. And also some mounting screws.

Driving home on the highway with my son and nephew and out of the blue my third brake light with trim flew off. It was so dangerous!!! The piece went flying through the air, all the vehicles behind me were trying not to get hit by the piece, once if finally landed, vehicles were running it over and trying not to get in accidents.
This is a major problem and can cause death. It should be recalled!!!

I think ice gets trapped between the light and the cover which eventually pushed the cover out and caused it to literally fly right oft the truck, while I was driving..so water starting getting thru there and caused the door hinges and lock to rust and now the door doesn't shut right..ive been trying for 3 years calling every wreckers within 200 kms to get that cover and no one has ever had one in. They always say they never have that part and that its common for them to have people looking for it.
