Trailblazer LS 4.2L Inline 6

  • Automatic transmission

I am not used to checking the oil on a car I don't normally drive, but it seems every time I do it, is very low or not even measured on dip stick. Four to five quarts to top it off. There are no oil leaks and it doesn't smoke at all. Where all the oil goes is a mystery. Have checked PCV valve and replaced. No change. No soot on exhaust tail pipe. If the catalytic converter were burning it. Surely it would be restricted by now. ???

I find out when the dealer warranty had expired that more than a quart of oil was missing every time I make the oil change, and there was no leak, I'm sure that the service dealer had notice this before but did not reported until I went to an independent.

I was on the road, when suddenly oil pressure went down, and a crankin started, checked the oil, a quart and a half was missing, and the service was given in less than a month, to my knowledge, that was not sufficient to wear down the motor. We have taken care of the vehicle, inside and outside still in great shape, but with a defective motor, I am sure from the start.

We been a chevrolet family since my grandfather, now I don't recommend it.

well along with the gas gauge now my motor ran at least 5 quarts low on oil and the oil pressure gauge was at the reg pressure. never going down with the loss of the oil in the motor. now i have to get a new motor cuz of the sweeeeet ass ticking from a part overheating. so i wonder if this will be a recall or if I'm going to get screwed on that too and have to buy a new or used motor.

For awhile now, my trailblazer has been consuming a lot of oil. The level will go from the top of the dipstick, to the bottom of the dipstick by the time it is ready for another oil change. In between oil changes, I have to keep buying more oil to keep it full.
