Christmas 2009 - attempted to open the lift gate in ice/snow - heard the crunching - and lift gate would not fully open. After a period of time and crunching - gate opened. August 2010 driving across country heard the pop and the cover popped off. Had to cut the wire to the 3rd brake light to put part inside the vehicle After much argument with the dealership - sharing of the various complaints/websites - they covered the part and labor - I had to pay to have the new cover painted to match my vehicle - around $300.00 - ridiculous - should never have happened - body parts should only have to be replaced when mistreated or due to vehicle accident - especially the lift gate cover.

Update from Nov 11, 2014: October 2014, mileage - 102,000 miles - took the TB for oil change at the dealership Thursday, Friday attempted to open the lift gate - CRUNCH - again! Dealership - parts only warranted for 1 year - cost to repair $1,000 . . with a $200 discount for being a good customer. Later find out that estimate is IF they find a used part to replace mine with. Who knows what condition those plastic latches/hinges are in . . Texas heat - and cold winters - we've had our share of snow/ice during recent winters - using used MIGHT last another year or two . . maybe. This is nuts - it NEVER should have happened the first time - definitely not the 2nd time. Dealership will not admit there is a design flaw - they just want the money for the repair/replacement. . . and wave as you leave knowing you will be back in a few years.
