The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while attempting to make a turn at an unknown speed, the steering wheel became stiff and difficult to turn. There was also an unusual grinding noise in the steering wheel. The dealer replaced the power steering pump yet the noise remained in the steering wheel. The dealer informed her that the entire steering column and wheel gear failed and would also need to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired by the dealer when the complaint was filed. The manufacturer advised the contact that they would confirm with the dealer that the correct repair was being made to the vehicle. The current mileage was approximately 6,700 and the failure mileage was approximately 4,000.
