I went to our mechanic yesterday to see if the oil was low in our Chevrolet Traverse, and we were 2 quarts down. We aren't due for another oil change for over 2,000 miles and our mechanic advised us that we had excessive oil consumption. This came up in December, at our last oil change, but it was worse yesterday. I'm incredibly frustrated about this, as we maintain the car due to factory recommendations and follow the tune-up recommendations. Etc. I do not want to put out money to fix this, as it is not our fault.

Excessive oil is consumed. Must always check oil and add oil in between oil changes. Car does not leave oil on drive way. My car will show i have 60% until next oil is needed, i check the oil levels and the dip stick is completely dry. dealer has been doing several oil consumption tests.

Oil was found to be “eaten†by the vehicle. It would cause excessive oil consumption with ABSOLUTELY no indicator lights to warn you something was wrong. Turns out oil was out of the flex tube after the front catalytic converter and before the third catalytic converter causing it to burn oil off without leaving smoke!? Bottom line, I need to buy a new engine or scrap the car!
